Yesterday, I officially said goodbye to the student who started at Bright Minds with me three years ago. She is now beginning a new chapter in middle school. You’re going to do great, Maritza! We’ll always be here whenever you need us.

Today is our end of school year party and time to say bye bye the 5th-grade graduates!
They deserve this party—they worked very hard all year.

Agreed!
You cannot raise academic standards while lowering behavior standards.
Those two things directly affect each other.
A classroom where students constantly interrupt, ignore instructions, disrespect teachers, or face no meaningful consequences is not a classroom focused on learning.
It becomes survival mode.
And the students who suffer most are often the ones who actually came to learn.
Teachers are being asked to raise test scores, close learning gaps, differentiate instruction, support mental health, manage behavior, answer emails, document everything, and somehow still keep every student engaged.
But one disruptive student can consume the time and attention of an entire room.
At some point, society has to decide what matters more:
Protecting every uncomfortable moment…
or protecting every child’s right to learn.
Because structure is not cruelty.
Boundaries are not oppression.
And discipline is not the enemy of education.
In many cases, it is the foundation of it.
