With heavy hearts, we share the passing of William C. “Mickey” Shumake, beloved co-founder and Chairperson of the Jeffrey M. Shumake Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship fund was deeply meaningful to Mickey. Created in memory of his beloved son, Jeffrey, the fund became a lasting expression of his love, his commitment to young people, and his desire to help others pursue their dreams. He found tremendous joy in every scholarship award and took great pride in the students whose lives were touched through Jeffrey’s memory.

Mickey leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, service, mentorship, and generosity. We are grateful for the many lives he touched, and for the enduring legacy he built in Jeffrey’s name.

Please join us in keeping his wife, Marion, his son, Andre, his family, friends, and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest peacefully, Mickey. Your legacy of love will live on. 🕊️

THANK YOU to all who were able to join us to honor Jeff this year, the 20th anniversary of his passing. We had a small group this year but, with all of the support of friends and family near and far, we have been able to keep Jeff's memory alive and provide much-deserved college scholarships to students for all of these years! We are deeply grateful for your support!

Today my friend, Jeffrey, would be 48 years old. We met when we were just kids and grew up like siblings. Still hard to believe he has been gone for going on 20 years now. He's still with us in spirit and lives on in my little boy, MJ (Michael Jeffrey). Jeffrey, I pray you are resting in peace. We miss you dearly. ♥️

Today was a perfect day to gather in honor and celebration of Jeffrey Shumake! So great to see so many of our friends and family who have supported the JMSMSF over the years! With your support, we are helping college students with some of their many expenses. Jeff would be proud and, probably, a little embarrassed!! We love and miss you, Jeff!
