Did you know...though the Gullah grew rice, okra, yams and cotton, they are also historically known for catching fish, shrimp, crabs and oysters. All native to their warm southern locations.

The Coastline from South Carolina to Northern Florida is home to approximately 300,000 Gullah people. The HanMeDown Gullah Museum is proud to preserve this rich southern Gullah history.
