IBSUniversity and IBS College of TVET are pleased to partner with WR Carpenter Group (Daltron) through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on creating more employability and industry opportunities for our students and graduates.

Through the partnership, students will have opportunities to take part in industry-led guest lectures and employability sessions, gaining practical insights from professionals and learning more about what it takes to succeed in the workplace.

The partnership will also support opportunities for graduate trainees from IBSUniversity and IBS College of TVET, helping graduates gain valuable workplace exposure as they begin their professional journeys.

Led through the Career Development Centre at IBSUniversity, this partnership brings education and industry closer together and creates a pathway for our students and graduates to connect, learn and explore career opportunities.

The IBSUniversity Career Fair 2026 was a resounding success, bringing together 28 leading organisations and our students under the theme “Connecting Talent. Creating Futures.”

Held on Friday, 28th August 2026, the Career Fair provided an invaluable platform for students to engage directly with industry professionals, explore career pathways, learn about graduate development programmes and internships, and gain insights into the skills and qualities employers are seeking in today’s workforce.

The programme featured an inspiring keynote address by Mr. Cameron Mackellar, Chief Executive Officer of Brian Bell Group, followed by an engaging industry panel discussion on “Future Skills, Employability and Industry Expectations for the Workforce of Tomorrow.” Moderated by Ms. Harika Repakula – CDC Coodinator IBSUinversity with panelists: Mr. Cameron Mackellar – Chief Executive Officer, Brian Bell Group, Ms. Shinal Prasad – HR Manager-Support Services, Brian Bell Group, Mr. Kumar Baliah- Chief Executive Officer, Theodist Ltd and Ms. Esther Usurup- Head of People and Culture PNG, Retail & Operations, BSP Financial Group Limited.

Building Career-Ready Graduates: CV Writing Workshop

A well-crafted CV is often the first step towards securing employment, and IBSUniversity is committed to equipping students with the practical skills they need to stand out in today's competitive job market.

On 29 July 2026, Year 3 and Year 4 students participated in an engaging CV Writing Workshop. The session was facilitated by Ms. Esther Ururu, Human Resource Manager at Hilton Port Moresby Hotel & Residences, and Ms. Hane Navuru, Learning & Development Specialist.

Students gained valuable insights into how recruiters assess applications, common CV mistakes to avoid, and practical strategies for showcasing their qualifications, skills, and experiences effectively.

At IBSUniversity, industry engagement is a vital part of the student learning experience. Workshops such as these bridge the gap between academic study and professional employment, ensuring our graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in their careers.

📍KPMG Roadshow at IBSU!

Students at IBSUniversity had the opportunity to engage with one of the world's leading professional services firm on Tuesday, 28th July 2026.

The session provided valuable insights into career opportunities, graduate recruitment pathways and internships at KPMG. Students also gained a deeper understanding of KPMG's culture, professional expectations, and the diverse career paths available in audit, tax, advisory, and business services.

DC Employability Skills Session 3 | Navigating Cultural Dynamics in the Workplace

Preparing students for the workplace goes beyond developing technical knowledge—it also means understanding how to thrive in diverse professional environments.

IBSUniversity was privileged to host Ms. Esther Usurup-Harou, Head of People & Culture PNG, Retail & Operations and her team at BSP Financial Group Limited, for the third session of our Employability Skills Series in semester 2. She delivered an insightful presentation on "Navigating Cultural Dynamics in the Workplace" to Year 3 and Year 4 students.

The session encouraged students to reflect on how Papua New Guinea's rich cultural values can positively influence the workplace while also recognizing the importance of professionalism, ethics, and adaptability. Students gained valuable insights into balancing communal responsibilities with workplace expectations, aligning personal values with organizational culture, and building respectful relationships in diverse teams.

Semester 2 - Employability Session 2: Mastering Time Management

IBSUniversity was privileged to host an engaging and insightful employability session on "Mastering Time Management" for Year 3 and Year 4 students, presented by Ms. Eli Webb, Executive Director of the PNG Women's Business Resource Centre (PNGWBRC).

The interactive session encouraged students to reflect on how they manage their time and provided practical strategies for setting priorities, staying organised, overcoming procrastination, and maintaining a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and personal commitments.

A key highlight of the session was the discussion on integrating effective time management with responsible social media use. Students learned how social media can be transformed from a distraction into a powerful tool for learning, networking, personal branding, and professional growth by developing mindful digital habits.

The session empowered students with practical skills to maximise productivity, improve focus, and make informed choices about how they invest their time—preparing them for success both in their academic journey and future careers.

Semester 2 - Employability Session 1: Practical Insights into Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Various Fields

On 8th July 2026, IBSUniversity was priviledged to have Mr. Tharindu Jayamaha, Head of Observability & Cybersecurity Solutions at Daltron on campus to present the employability session on: Practical Insights into Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Various Fields.

The session provided participants with a practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its growing impact across industries. Students explored:

Understanding the fundamentals of AI and its role in transforming the way we live and work.

🧠 Branches of AI & AI Tools

Exploring different branches of AI and discovering the right AI tools for various personal, academic, and professional applications.

💡 Prompt Engineering & AI Tools

Learning the fundamentals of prompt engineering.
Understanding best practices for writing effective prompts to generate accurate, relevant, and high-quality AI responses.

The interactive session encouraged participants to think critically about how AI can be used responsibly, ethically, and productively to solve real-world challenges while enhancing creativity, learning, and workplace efficiency.
