DID YOU KNOW?
The iconic RPYC flagpole is actually the mast from the MV Macdhui, a ship sunk in Fairfax Harbour during a Japanese air raid in 1942. The Club's restaurant, Macdhui, takes its name from the historic vessel.

CELEBRATING 105 YEARS

Today, we proudly celebrate 105 years of the Royal Papua Yacht Club.

What began on 2 June 1921 as the Port Moresby Aquatic Club with a handful of passionate sailors and traditional sailing canoes has grown into one of the Pacific's leading yacht clubs and a cherished institution in Papua New Guinea.

For more than a century, RPYC has brought together generations of members through sailing, fishing, boating, sport, friendship, family, and community. From humble beginnings on the shores of Fairfax Harbour to the vibrant club we know today, our story has been shaped by the people who have contributed their time, passion, and dedication over the years.

As we mark this milestone, we honour those who came before us, celebrate those who are part of the Club today, and look forward to the generations who will continue this legacy into the future.
