Don Bosco Technological Institute (DBTI) joyfully celebrated the Feast of Mary Help of Christians with a solemn Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Ariel Macatangay. The celebration marks the meaningful conclusion of the nine-day visitation of the statue of Mary Help of Christians to the various Technologies and Departments of DBTI.

The Eucharistic celebration gathered Salesians, educators, staff, and students in a spirit of prayer and thanksgiving, and devotion to the Blessed Mother. During his homily, Fr. Ariel encouraged everyone to be sensitive like Mary in the needs of the people around them and try to help. He also emphasised how Don Bosco encouraged young people when he said, "Have devotion to Mary and you will see what miracles are."

Following the Mass, the celebration continued with a lively program where students showcased their talents through Marian Hymn presentations. Fun-filled games were also held, bringing joy and excitement.

The celebration concluded with a communal lunch provided for all staff and students.

BEYOND NORMAL DUTIES: DBTI STAFF VISITS CHESHIRE HOMES
HOHOLA — May 18, 2026
By Ms. Rebecca Macklee
In a heartwarming living witness to the Salesian Strenna 2026 theme, "Do whatever he tells you – Believers, free to serve," the non-teaching staff of Don Bosco Technological Institute (DBTI) conducted a meaningful outreach community service visit to Cheshire disAbility Services in Hohola today. The initiative beautifully translated the Salesian call for joyful service into local action, bringing comfort and solidarity to the vulnerable.
The DBTI delegation arrived at the Hohola Cheshire campus at 9:35 AM. They were warmly welcomed by the residence’s Operations Manager, Mr. Joe. Following a formal exchange of thank-you and introductory speeches, Cheshire’s Ms. Anna introduced her dedicated staff and several residents, opening a window into their lives, triumphs, and daily experiences.
During his address, Mr. Joe shared an inspiring insight into how the center manages its daily responsibilities, noting that their current organizational motto is "Less is More." He beautifully explained the meaning; highlighting how a small, highly dedicated team works tirelessly to achieve massive positive impacts for their residents and the wider community they serve.
More valuable than any material good, however, was the gift of the staff's loving presence. The DBTI team sat with the residents, engaged in meaningful conversations, and shared genuine moments of laughter and connection, ensuring a deeply personal and shared experience for everyone.
Showing immense dedication, the staff immediately returned to their respective departments to continue their official duties for the day, proving that true community advocacy means stepping up to give your time and loving presence well beyond the boundaries of a normal daily routine.

Headed by Ms. Philippa Joumkalop, the organising committee for this year’s Feast of Mary Help of Christians, organised a deeply meaningful celebration.
The event commenced on the Feast of St. Dominic Savio, marked by the enthronement of the statue of Mary Help of Christians at a beautifully decorated altar in the gymnasium.

During this opening ceremony, students offered flowers while the class mayors received candles.
Throughout the celebration, the Blessed Mother's statue visited various technology departments, where she was warmly received by the students. This year's theme, "With Mary, our Help, ready to serve," focuses on three core objectives: firstly, deepening everyone's growth in Marian spirituality,
secondly, challenging Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) students to be individuals for others, thirdly, encouraging creativity across different Marian activities as expressions of devotion.
The statue's visitation concluded today, Monday, 18 May, as the staff gathered to receive the Blessed Mother in front of the Pastoral Office. They were joined by the students of DBTI.
This beautiful tradition demonstrates the deep devotion of the Don Bosco family. In the 19th century, St. John Bosco adopted Mary Help of Christians as the patroness of his Religious Orders—the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Don Bosco placed immense trust in her,
famously stating, "Have devotion to Mary, Help of Christians, and you will see what miracles are."
The festivities will officially conclude on 22 May with a Holy Mass for the entire DBTI community, followed by a floral offering, Marian hymn singing, and community games.
