NYDA AND TVI HOST YOUTH MULTI-STAKEHOLDER MEETING

The National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) in partnership with The Voice Inc. (TVI), successfully convened the first National Youth Multi-Stakeholder Meeting from 31 March to 1 April, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing review and implementation of the National Youth Policy 2020 to 2030.

Key outcomes from the meeting included validated progress and challenges across the policy’s four pillars, practical recommendations to address implementation gaps, and agreed amendments to improve the policy’s relevance and impact. The process reinforced commitments to stronger coordination, accountability, resource mobilisation, and collaboration between government, civil society, and development partners. This positioning affirms the meeting as the national mechanism for more inclusive and impactful youth development in Papua New Guinea.

TVI supported the MSM through its Local Leadership and Collective Action Program (LLCAP) which is funded by the Australian Government through the PNGAus Partnership.

The Voice Inc

The National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) and The Voice Inc. (TVI) successfully convened the first National Youth Multi-Stakeholder Meeting (MSM). Co-chaired by both organizations, the first MSM supported the review of the National Youth Policy 2020 – 2030 and was hosted from the 31st of March to the 1st of April in Port Moresby, NCD.

Over 120 stakeholders from across PNG-including government representatives, youth councils, CSOs, NGOs, FBOs and donor partners were present. The MSM was officially opened by keynote speeches by Hon. Jason Peter, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, and Mr Joe Itaki, Director General of the National Youth Development Authority.

All stakeholders present reviewed progress, identified gaps, and proposed practical recommendations for the current youth policy. The discussions culminated in an Outcome Statement presented to the NYDA Director General, strengthening national coordination and cross sector collaboration for youth development.
