Urgent Update: School Closure Tomorrow

Dear First Steps Families,

Please be advised that school will be closed tomorrow, Monday March 23, 2026.
Our school community is grieving the loss of a family member dear to many of our staff and our Head Teacher. We will be closing the school for the day so that our team can attend the funeral services and support one another.
We apologize for the short notice and thank you for your deep kindness and sympathy.

Summary:
• No School: Tomorrow, March 23, 2026
• Reopening: Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the usual time.

Due to the heavy rain last night and early hours of this morning, causing flooding in the school area, coupled with no running water, we are forced to close down the school for the day.

Preschoolers from First Steps School enjoyed their excursion to the Doulos Hope Ship.

We would like to thank all the parents that came along to show their support.

First Steps School's Preparatory class was able to visit the Doulos HOPE Ship.

To all parents & guardians,

2026 First Steps School Of Tomorrow enrollment for the following classes is now open:

1. Kindergarten 1 (4 year-olds)
2. Kindergarten 2 / Reading Readiness (ages 5 & 6 years old)
3. ABC's Learning To Read (7 yrs & up)

Please come to the school at Kirakira Village to pick up an enrollment form with K25.00 to register your child. As we have only 20 spaces available for each class.

Urgent Notice:

To all Parents and Guardians of FSSOT,

The graduation ceremony for our students scheduled for tomorrow is now postponed to Friday.

This is due to heavy downpour and bad weather that has prevented the school from setting up the graduation tent.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

Parliament sits today, Tuesday April 15,2025 for the Vote of No confidence motion.

Please be careful when moving to school, especially those living further away.

If you see that it would be unsafe for you to travel back and forth, stay home.

Notice to all Parents and Guardians:

There will not be any classes tomorrow due to maintenance work by the school.

Maintenance will be carried out on Monday the 24th of February and Tuesday 25th February, 2025.

Wednesday is a Public Holiday to remember the late Grand Chief, Sir Michael Somare.

On Thursday 27th February, 2025 classes will resume.

Staff at the First Steps School of Tomorrow underwent a workshop on The RACHEL system and the Chromebook devices to bring quality online and offline education.

RACHEL stands for Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education Learning.
It is a portable device containing world class educational materials that can be accessed by students and teachers.

Mr. Picky AIRI from Prose consulting, who facilitated the workshop, has helped us customize Rachel to our schools needs and also added software and materials in the Chromebook to help our teachers and students.

We are excited to inform you that our school is set to roll out modern learning methods by mid this year when we have enough smart devices.
