Bugandi Secondary School in Lae has kicked off its Educational FUN Festival, bringing together students, teachers, parents and members of the public for two days of culture, education, creativity and entertainment.
The first day of the festival, held today, August 20, featured a vibrant Cultural Fair and Exhibition, with students proudly representing Papua New Guineaβs 21 provinces. Each group showcased traditional attire, food, customs and other important aspects of their provinceβs cultural heritage.
The cultural exhibition gave students an opportunity to learn outside the classroom while also sharing the richness and diversity of PNG with visitors. It highlighted the importance of keeping traditional cultures alive, especially among the younger generation.
The festival continues tomorrow, August 21, with a Students STEM Exhibition and Career Fair, where students will present a range of educational, scientific and creative displays while exploring different career opportunities.
Beyond education and entertainment, the festival also has a practical goal for Bugandi Secondary School. Funds raised through sales and gate-ticket collections will contribute towards the schoolβs plans to build new staff houses.
The Educational FUN Festival is therefore more than just a celebration. It is an opportunity for the Bugandi community to bring together culture, education and innovation while raising support for the schoolβs future development.
As students proudly display the traditions of all 21 provinces, the message is clear: PNGβs culture belongs to the next generation, and events like this help ensure it continues to live on. π΅π¬
