Meet the Rainbow Eucalyptus!
Gude! I’m the Eucalyptus deglupta, but I’m better known as the Rainbow Gum. You can find me in the forests of Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. I am really special, as the only Eucalyptus species that usually grows in the rainforest. I got my name thanks to my stunning multi-coloured bark. When my outer layer of bark peels off, the rainbow coloured bark underneath is revealed! Featuring hues of lavender, blue, green, orange and maroon, it has to be seen to be appreciated. I am endangered in some parts of my natural range due to loss of habitat and logging for timber and firewood. Pay me a visit, and I’ll inspire you to let your inner beauty shine too!

still has a largely rural population, living on their own land with the skills and ability to work, produce, trade, and innovate in a way that will improve their lives and those of future generations. PNG’s wealth of natural resources can continue to be the basis of people’s livelihoods, provided these are managed by and for the people in a sustainable, responsible, and wise way.
