NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is an annual, national assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 in Australia and schools that offer the Australian Curriculum designed to measure literacy and numeracy skills.

Purpose: NAPLAN aims to provide a consistent and comparable measure of student achievement in literacy and numeracy across the country, helping schools and parents understand how students are progressing.
What it tests: The tests cover four areas: Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and Numeracy.
Who takes it: All students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 participate in NAPLAN.
