Charity Football Match and Coffee Afternoon -
Thank you to all staff, students and parents/carers who came along to support our charity day today for Little Stars.

We had a great game with some mixed staff and student teams at Shifnal Town FC - Official FB, where the Purple team were victorious against the Blue team! Thank you to Kyle and Ashley from 23 Alternative Provision for making an appearance and coming to support!

We finished the day with parents and carers having a coffee and cake in the vocational block, as well as some of our primary students doing a car wash to help raise money.

The final amount has yet to be counted out, but there is still time to donate using our JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/stephanie-wilde-1

Parents and Carers are more than welcome to come along and support and watch the football match, then come into school from 1pm to have a coffee, cake and even have your car washed!!

Community Outreach Work
We are looking to expand our work within the Shifnal community and we’d love to hear from local groups and organisations.

Our students and staff are keen to get involved in activities where they can make a real difference, while developing confidence, teamwork and life skills. We are putting together a list of community opportunities that we can support, both now and in the future.

If you have an activity or project that could benefit from some extra support, please get in touch. This could include things like community clean-ups, litter picking, local events, basic maintenance support or any similar initiatives.

Class 3 visited Cosford Air Museum today. They really enjoyed seeing all the planes, learning about the dangers of being a pilot in WWII and trying on the uniform of RAF pilots. A great time was had by all.

Local Work Experience Opportunities
It was great to head out into Shifnal yesterday to speak to some of our local businesses about being able to have some of our students for work experience.
It was really positive to have some offers from Rachel at RTFG-The Flower Girl, Kelly at St Andrew's Church Shifnal and Gordon at Shifnal Cycles who are willing to take on some of our pupils for work experience from September.

From September, we would love as many local businesses to be able to support our work experience offer at school. Our work experience programme differs from the 'usual' work experience blocks of 2 weeks. We are looking for any businesses that will be willing to support some pupils in the following way:

- 2-3 hours of work experience per week.
- Pupils will be supervised and supported by school staff
- Pupils interested in construction, hair and beauty, bike/car maintenance, retail, restaurant and cafe work.

McPhillips Wellington Limited Careers Talk
Today, our pupils had the pleasure of an insightful and interesting careers in construction talk from Emily, Roger and George from McPhillips Wellington Limited.
Within the presentation was all jobs available at McPhillips, 'Guess the Job', as well as the routes that pupils can take into the job roles within the company, including apprenticeship, college courses and university options.
Thank you so much to Emily, Roger and George for coming in, the students and staff found it really engaging and useful. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the future.

⚽☕ Charity Football Match & Coffee Afternoon – Join Us! 💛

We’re excited to be hosting a charity football match on Monday 15th June at 10:30am, followed by a cake and coffee afternoon from 1:00pm on site.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend the football match, and we will let you know if your child will be taking part. The location of the match will be confirmed closer to the time, depending on the weather.

💛 Everyone is invited to join us for the cake and coffee afternoon from 1:00pm – we’d love to bring our whole community together.
This event is in support of Little Stars Charity, who work tirelessly across Shropshire to ensure no baby or child goes without the essentials they need. Their mission is simple and urgent: to support families with kindness and practical help when they need it most.

We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Parent/Carer Evening and Key Stage 4 Options Evening on Monday 1st June 2026.

The event will run from 3:15pm until 5:00pm. Leaders will be available throughout to help guide you to the right staff and support discussions around Key Stage 4 options. There is no need to pre-book appointments, as colleagues will support the flow across subject areas.

If your child/young person will not be using their usual transport arrangements after the event, please email [email protected] to let us know.

Class 5 went on a visit to Hoo Zoo with a focus on careers. On arrival, the young people were given the opportunity to talk to a variety of people who worked in different roles at the zoo. This gave them valuable insight into the possible roles within a zoo environment as well as developing an understanding of what they might need to do in order to work in those fields.

After this, the class were taken on an SEMH session by two of the keepers where they got to experience regulation strategies using animals. They were able to feed the lemurs as well as hold a snake and play with the goats.

During the afternoon, the class were given the opportunity to freely explore the rest of the zoo and the dinosaur park. They were able to access the play equipment as well as seeing the remainder of the animals.

The class really enjoyed their day out at the zoo and came away with some knowledge of careers and some fun facts about some of the animals.
