Today is the end of an era for Caterpillars in Worfield. For over 23 years we have welcomed so many wonderful children (and in turn their children too!) into our Caterpillars family, and cared for them as we watched them flourish and grow. In the last few weeks we have enjoyed reflecting on so many happy and fun memories that we have all shared together over the years, and remembered many wonderful times such as the fundraising events that we have held including sports days, that have brought fun and laughter to us all. We would like to mention and remember each and every staff and committee member who has ever been a part of our charity setting over the many years, with every one of them making a valued contribution, and being a part of the glorious history of Caterpillars. Whilst we have cared and nurtured many many children ( and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know their families) each and every child past and present, has touched our lives and holds a unique memory for us that we will never forget, and we wish them everything they wish for themselves in the future. We feel privileged to have known you all.
As for Caterpillarsโฆ โas one door closes, another one opensโ
Take care everyone, stay safe and be happy

Sports week and beanstalks!! Caterpillars have had another wonderful week enjoying their sporting activities during an adapted 'sports day week' retro style with events such our traditional egg and spoon race (we chose the boiled egg option for obvious reasons ๐) All our Caterpillars are amazing and received medals and certificates. Look! our beanstalks are growing like 'giants!' and this week we explored colour mixing and learnt how to make 'green' which we then used to create our very own beanstalks-wishing you all a glorious weekend and see you all next week for our exciting fancy dress 'End of an era' party mornings๐ฅณ๐ฅณ๐

"Fe Fi Fi Fum" Caterpillars have been having great fun enjoying the Story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We played counting games with our 'magic beans' and experimented by planting beans in cotton wool and soil to see which ones grew the quickest. It was such fun acting out the story with the story stones we made and our full sized beanstalk made from sheets and blankets that we climbed to the top of! Wishing you all a happy weekend ๐๐

Caterpillars children have been on a very exciting holiday to Italy this week! We learnt to say hello in Italian and created our very own sandy beaches. We explored how to form sand castles and sand moulds by adding water to the dry sand and also learnt by weighing, that wet sand is heavier than dry sand. In our Italian restaurant, we made our very own pizzas and sampled them for snack...mmm delicious!! Wishing you all a very happy weekend ๐๐ฅฐ

"Look what we made!! bbbbbrrrrrr icy cold !!" Caterpillars created their very own iceburgs on the frozen water (mirrors) and learnt about how ice is formed, how it melts and how it turns from a solid into a water liquid. We learnt some facts about climate change and observed the iceburgs as they melted throughout the day as it got warmer. Caterpillars children had the best fun 'chipping' away at the ice to rescue the penguins. Wishing everyone a happy (and warm!) half term holiday ๐๐

Caterpillars children were so fascinated by the birds nest and eggs we found this week, they wanted to create their own!!! We used our asparabrushes!!! (asparagus) to paint our very own nests and then laid on bracken found from outside to create a nest with our boiled eggs!!... We then carried out our eggs-periments!!! to learn about 'cause and effect' and explored what happens to eggs when they are cooked in various ways (boiled and scrambled). We even dropped boiled and non boiled eggs on the floor to guess what might happen (very messy but fantastic fun!) Then we pretended to be Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall !! Wishing everyone a happy weekend ๐๐๐
