A lovely and peaceful morning this week celebrating International Day of Peace ☮️ and Week of Deaf people🧏

Everyone had a go at learning new signs and we were read a lovely story about someone who was hard of hearing by one of our amazing children 🤩

We created peaceful pictures and paper place peace symbols 💜

Finished our session with a very fun and silly game of Silent Whispers 🤫

So many wonderful new families are joining our community every week, and we can’t wait to see even more ideas, activities and skills shared by our families over the coming weeks! ☺️💛

We’ve just confirmed the lovely Emma from Musical StoryBox Walsall, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield will be coming to run a session for us in October! 🎶📖

Here’s a message from Emma:

“At Musical StoryBox we provide educational storytelling classes merging music, literacy and sensory play to create a unique and immersive experience for children from birth up to Key Stage 1. Each week we'll bring to life a different story with magical props, beautiful music and play.

Another fabulous morning with the best bunch 💐

Today was the perfect example of what this co-op is all about…

Parents bringing ideas, setting up activities and sharing things with the group. Children suggesting games, taking the lead and getting stuck in. Friendships forming naturally, activities evolving, and maybe a little bit of chaos happening along the way! 😂

And then, when it was time to tidy up, everyone just chipped in and got it done 🙌

So many smiles, so much laughter and such a lovely little community growing around our children 💛

And this week we were joined by some lovely new families 🥰

📚 We sewed bookmarks and read about a boy who loved eating books to celebrate National Literacy Day…

🖼️ We created silhouette pictures of ourselves and thought about the things that make us, us…

💭 We made learning goals for the next year ahead…

🎭 We had an impromptu team puppet show with lots of tickets sold…

🤗 We played and had an awful lot of fun!

And that’s just the first week 😮‍💨💛

💛 Welcome to our Home Ed Co-op! 💛

We’re a friendly, parent-led co-op for home educating families with children under 10, based at Lichfield Family Hub.

Our sessions are a chance for children and families to get together, play, create, explore and learn alongside one another. Activities vary each week and may include:

🎨 Open-ended creative activities
🔨 Practical and hands-on activities
🔎 Exploring and learning through play
🎲 Games and group activities
📚 Stories and books
👩‍🏫 Visitors and workshops
🌳 Outdoor activities
💛 And plenty of time to socialise and make friends!

📅 When do we meet?

We meet on Mondays, including most school holidays.

🕥 Most Mondays: 10.30am–1.30pm
🕥 The third Monday of each month: 10.30am–12.30pm

💰 How much does it cost?

£10 per family per term
or
£3 per family per session

Our contributions go into a shared co-op kitty, which helps us fund resources, activities, visitors and experiences for the children.

🤝 How does the co-op work?

Our group is run collaboratively by the families who attend. We all help to shape the sessions and families are encouraged to get involved in whatever way works for them — whether that’s planning or bringing an activity, helping with a game or story, sharing a skill, bringing resources or supporting on the day.

We’re always keen to hear new ideas too! 💛

We are looking to run a Mini First Aid course (aimed at children 3-7ish) on Monday 5th October morning. The cost is £8 per child.

It’s an hour long course and would be introducing the basics of first aid including:

- What to do if someone has a bumped head
- Helping with small cuts and grazes
- What to do if someone is hurt
- Recognising when someone needs help
- What to do if an injured person won’t wake up
- How to keep someone safe while getting help

Life’s a beach 🏝️🦀🐚

We had a splash this morning with all things ‘beach’ to celebrate National Beach Day in a few days time (30th).

That’s our summer sessions wrapped up and we’ll be back in September (hopefully for summer round 5 🤞☀️)

In September, we will have some new timings and a new format!

Our sessions will start at 10.30am and will start with an introduction to the activities on offer and a themed story.

At the end of each session we will finish with some circle time chat and a team game.

It was a busy one this week 🤗

With that plus a baby, this was the only photo I managed to get! 🙈

In commemoration of Nelson Mandela day last week we had a bit of a superhero theme to our group.

We had role plays, books, games, dressing up and clay craft 💛

We are continuing as normal throughout the holidays for those who want somewhere to hide from the busy summer crowds 🫣

Today was all about making simple and beautiful things together as a group 💜

The grown ups might have been a bit more involved in this one 😜 but our group isn’t just about the children!

As home educating parents, we give so much every day. Monday mornings are a time for us too. A time to chat, slow down and maybe create something special in a welcoming and supportive environment 🫶

We had a wonderful time this morning with Bob and Lennie learning all about why it’s so important to take care of our environment 🌍💚

We learned some fascinating facts about hedgehogs and went on a litter pick where we found a scary amount of rubbish in such a small area 😞

The children were amazing and got really stuck in! Each and every one of them was a Litter Legend! 🗑️

For anyone who is interested in purchasing Bob’s book or joining the LICHFIELD LITTER LEGENDS - drop them a message on their Facebook group.

They provide your family with all the equipment you need and all they ask is that you send them updates of how much you’ve picked (number of bags), where you picked and to do at least one pick per month 🦔
