Over the last two weeks, we have been delighted to welcome the parents from Chicks, Ducklings, and Cygnets to our fantastic Forest School session. We had a brilliant time singing our favourite songs and tapping our sticks during our ‘sticktastic’ fun, followed by a quick game of ‘follow that sound,’ where everyone successfully found James. Our site was filled with lots of exciting Forest School, sensory, and nature-related activities. Some children enjoyed splashing in the water and watching it trickle down the pipes, while others explored the different colours, crunches, crinkles, and curiosities under the shade of a tree. Our mud kitchen was a hit, with the fantastic smell of mud crumble and flippin' pancakes. The children also made their marks at the muddy and very messy ‘mark making’ station. We hope everyone had a wonderful time. See you again very soon.

🚓 A very special visit for the Penguins children!

We were so excited to welcome our local police officer and police van to nursery! The children had a fantastic time exploring inside the van, chatting with the officer and finding out more about what the police do to help keep our community safe.

And, of course, the highlight had to be having a go at sounding the sirens! There were lots of excited faces and smiles all around!

A huge thank you to our wonderful police officer for taking the time to visit us and make it such a fun and memorable experience for the children.

🌟Meet the Team Monday 🌟

This week we are shining the spotlight on our wonderful Senior Lead Team!

Hi, I’m Colleen and I began working with Humpties in the Badgers Out of School clubs many years ago. In 2014 I began working in the nursery Preschool room and enjoyed every moment. Now a Senior Lead to the over twos, I love to see how the children progress and shine throughout their journey with us. It’s a privilege to work with the fantastic adults in each room and to be able to get to know each and every child within them. I love to plan exciting experiences for the children to enjoy and to support them in their transition to school.

Hi, I’m Gemma! I’ve been part of the Humpties family for just over 7 years. I started in Chicks as the Baby Room Leader and have since progressed to Senior Lead, where I oversee the day-to-day running of all our Baby and Toddler Rooms. The best part of my job is watching our children grow and develop from tiny babies all the way through to preschool. It’s so rewarding to be part of their early years journey and to see their confidence and personalities flourish. I love building strong, trusting relationships with our children, their families, and our amazing staff team. Creating a warm, caring, and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, happy, and valued is something I’m truly passionate about.

Hello, Forest School James here. I’m based at the Lichfield setting and have been leading Forest School sessions for the past four years. I love that no two days are ever the same. Whatever the weather, theme or mood, we encourage a positive, playful approach to the outdoors and help children connect with the natural world. My background in Dance and Theatre at Coventry University, combined with my passion for the arts, allows me to bring a creative, imaginative and sensory approach to Forest School in the true Humpties way. I also love hosting parent events so families can share in the magic, and I’m excited to be part of our newly established Humpties Dads Club. I look forward to meeting more of our families and sharing many outdoor adventures together throughout the many more years to come.

Hi, I’m Sophie! In my role as Deputy Senior Lead, I am absolutely thrilled to be part of a team that strives to ensure every child experiences the very best care and education. My focus is on supporting and maintaining exceptionally high standards across all age groups. This includes everything from efficiently managing our rooms and resources to creating exciting new learning opportunities and supporting the ongoing development of our wonderful staff team. I am incredibly fortunate to still engage in hands-on, room-based activities. Being based in the Robins room allows me to build connections with our families and children right from the start. At the same time, my leadership role gives me the joy of reading the children's lovely learning journals and building strong bonds with staff and children throughout the entire nursery!

This week we are shining the spotlight on our wonderful Badgers cover staff Team!

Hi I’m Abby. I started working for Humpties, many years ago initially working for Badgers Out of School clubs. I began working at the Nursery this year and have had the pleasure of working with every age group. I really enjoy working at the Nursery. I find it a rewarding job, particularly watching the children learn and grow, hitting milestones along the way.

Hi my name is Wesley. I have worked for the company for about 1 year and a half. I am a play assistant at Badgers and supply staff at Nursery. My favourite part of the job is meeting all the children at different clubs and nursery’s (Lichfield, Barton and Yoxall) and doing all different kinds of fun activities that they love to enjoy.

Hi I’m Tom and I’ve been working at Humpties as a badger for a year and a half but have started covering at nursery since May this year. The best part about working at Humpties is seeing the children grow and develop in a supportive environment and I enjoy seeing their confidence grow.

Hi, I'm Chantelle, and I have worked for Humpties for the past nine months. I work as a Play Assistant at Lichfield Badgers and also part of the supply team at Lichfield Nursery. I have the opportunity to work across all of the rooms wherever I'm needed, which I really enjoy because every day is different. One of the things I love most about my role is getting to know children of all ages and watching them reach new milestones. It's especially rewarding to return to a room I haven't been in for a while and see how much the children have grown, developed, and achieved. I enjoy supporting the practitioners to create a happy, safe, and caring environment where children can learn through fun and engaging activities. Seeing children smile, build confidence, and enjoy their day is the best part of my job. I especially love watching them sing and dance to their favourite songs, seeing their faces light up with excitement, and joining in with creative crafts and messy play. It's a privilege to be part of their learning journey.

Hi my name is Cam. I’m a Deputy Team Leader at Badgers and on occasion I cover in the nursery. I enjoy working in a nursery because I find it rewarding to support young children as they learn, grow, and develop new skills throughout the year. I particularly enjoy seeing their progress and watching their confidence increase as they learn to communicate, become more independent, and build relationships with others. I also enjoy playing games and taking part in activities with the children, as this helps me build positive relationships with them while making learning fun and engaging. Working in a nursery also gives me the opportunity to encourage children's creativity, help them overcome challenges, and support their individual needs and development.

Hi I’m Henry! I work at Badgers Out of School and I’m one of the supply members of staff at Humpties. I’m really enjoying getting to know all of the children and working across the different rooms. Outside of nursery, I love sport — especially football — and I play for a local team in my spare time. One of my favourite parts of working in nursery is outdoor play. I really enjoy spending time outside with the children, joining in with their play and watching them develop, grow in confidence and reach new milestones.

Hi I’m Sam and I have worked at Humpties and Badgers as a Play Assistant and cover for just under two years. I love being able to help children learn and develop through play and I thrive to work well with all the staff at nursery to make each room an enjoyable space for every child.

Hi, I’m Tom. I’m a Sports Science graduate from Liverpool John Moores University with a strong passion for health, fitness, and helping others reach their potential. I love playing football and regularly spend time in the gym, staying active and continually challenging myself both physically and mentally. Alongside my interest in sport and fitness, I have a real passion for working with children and enjoy supporting their development, confidence, and enjoyment of physical activity. My background in sports science, combined with my enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring young people, has given me a strong foundation for making a positive impact through sport and education.

Hi, my name is Ellen, I’m have been working at Humpty Dumptys for almost 6 years. I have loved returning to the nursery as a staff member, as I came to Humptys as a child. I have been based in various rooms over the years, most recently based in Ladybirds room. I am now cover staff, so work in all age groups. I have loved building bonds with the children, and seeing them grow and develop is fabulous. I love doing messy play with the children, as well as crafts. I also love Forest School, seeing the children feel free to explore and get a bit muddy. The children always put a smile on my face each day.

Hi I’m Hannah. I have worked at Humpties since 2017 originally working full time in the Robins room. I now work as a cover member of staff in all the rooms where needed which I really enjoy as everyday is a new and different. I find working with the different ages very rewarding and has helped me to better understand the needs of the children across the nursery at different stages. This job role has helped me learn and put things into practice with my own two children. I love watching the children thrive in the activities they love and to see them enjoying being outdoors is amazing.

My name is Charlotte and I’ve worked at Humpties for 13 years. During this time I have got married and had 2 beautiful boys. I was in the Panda room from 2012 until 2018 (also doing a year or 2 in badgers) and then I moved to Giraffes where I worked until 2023 and became Group leader for last four of those years. I then went on maternity with my second child. I returned in March 2026 as a cover/supply member of staff. I love supporting the children in all of the rooms and sharing their Early Years journey!

Hi, I’m Michelle and I’ve worked at Humpties for the past 18 months as an Early Years Assistant. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work across all 3 of our baby rooms, which has given me a great understanding of each stage of children’s early development. I now work as a supply member of staff supporting the different rooms across the nursery wherever I’m needed. I enjoy the variety that my role brings and love getting to know all of the children and supporting them as they learn, grow and reach new milestones. The best part of my job is building positive relationships with the children and creating a warm, caring environment where every child feels safe, happy and valued. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch the children develop in confidence and celebrate their achievements, no matter how big or small.

Hi I’m Kirsty. I have worked at Humpty Dumpty Day Nursery for a total of seven years, having started at the St Michael's Pre-school. I began my career as a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner. After having my little boy, I moved into a cover staff role, where I support practitioners with their day-to-day tasks across the nursery. My favourite part of my role is watching the children grow from babies into confident, happy learners. It's so rewarding to see their progress and help them achieve each of their next steps throughout their nursery journey.

This week we are shining the spotlight on our wonderful Pre-School Team!

Hi, I’m Debbie, I’m the Pre-School leader. I’ve worked for Humpties for 5 years now. We are a fun, confident and loving team and all support the children, their families aswell as one another. I love to engage with the children and create activities and opportunities to grow, helping the children to gain new and extend past experiences through play within their day. I enjoy being part of the children’s final journey before heading to school and seeing them all graduate is one of the highlights I love to be part of.

Hi, I'm Becci! I've been part of the Humpty family for 5 years and I'm a qualified Early Years Teacher in our Preschool room. My favourite part of my job is creating core memories with the children while watching them grow in confidence and develop new skills. I love helping to build the foundations of their education and supporting each child to reach their full potential.
I bring lots of creativity into the classroom and enjoy planning fun, engaging experiences that encourage children to learn through play every day. I am the lead for the MyHappymind program which is an NHS-backed, science-based mental health and resilience curriculum for UK schools, nurseries, and families.

Hi my name is Skye. I absolutely love working in childcare and feel so lucky to be part of the Pre-School room at Humpties. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of watching children learn, grow, and build their confidence every day. Every day brings new smiles, laughter, and milestones, which is what makes my job so special.

My name is Rachel, and I am an Early Years Practitioner. I have been part of the Humpty’s team for one and a half years. I began my journey in the Panda Room, where I loved working with the younger children. I now work in the Pre-School, which suits me perfectly. This age group is full of curiosity and energy, and it is wonderful to see their learning, independence, and confidence really begin to flourish. Before joining Humpty’s, I spent over ten years working across a variety of educational settings, including primary, secondary, and special needs schools. As a Teaching Assistant, I specialised in supporting children with additional needs—whether physical, cognitive, social, or emotional—helping them access the curriculum and feel fully included within the school community. I firmly believe that every child matters, and I am passionate about helping each child thrive and develop a genuine love of learning. One of my favourite parts of the day is spending time outdoors with the children, whether we are exploring at Forest School or enjoying the fantastic Pre-School garden. I love getting them involved in group games such as hide and seek, “the floor is lava,” or going on a bear hunt, and seeing them laugh and play together. And of course, I cherish the moments of comfort and connection—cuddles are always welcome.

Hi, I’m Alison, and I’ve been part of the Humpties team for nearly seven years. Working in Pre-School is incredibly rewarding because no two days are ever the same. One of the most fulfilling parts of my role is watching the children grow in confidence and develop throughout the year, especially after Christmas when their personalities really begin to shine. I’m passionate about building strong relationships with both the children and their families, supporting them every step of the way on their learning journey. Some of my favourite aspects of Pre-School life include PE, messy play, outdoor activities, and, of course, graduation celebrations. Seeing the children proudly reach this milestone and prepare for their next exciting adventure is truly special.

Hi I'm Claire and I've worked at Humpties for 12 months. I am an Early Years Assistant in Pre-School. I have 3 grown up children of my own and love working with children, watching them grow in confidence and forming relationships with them. Today in Forest School, we had the pleasure of welcoming the children and parents from the Panda room. We engaged in our ‘Sticktastic’ time and gleefully sang some of our favourite songs. The children managed to find me for one of our games and one of the other children picked an awesome place to hide with their mum. Various stations were set up to encourage and promote child-led play including; a water fill and flow area, dinky dino land, Humpties Gallery/art studio and a feast was being cooked up over in our mud kitchen. We saw some lovely interactions and everyone had a great time! Thanks again for joining us and we’ll look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

🌟 Introducing Humpties Dad’s Club! 🌟

We're so excited to have launched our brand-new Dads Club – a welcoming space where dads can come together, connect, and talk openly about the trials, tribulations, and joys of parenting.

Our very first session, held last week in our Forest School, was a fantastic success, with great conversations, shared experiences, and plenty of support. It was wonderful to see Dad’s taking time to connect with one another in such a relaxed and friendly environment. Thank you to all of the Dad’s that came along.

We're already busy planning our next session and can't wait to welcome even more Dad’s along. Whether you're a new dad or have years of parenting experience, there's always a place for you.
