Tonight at 6.30pm is the Opening Ceremony in Paris of the # # Olympics with 329 events across 19 days of competition.
Did you know that Howard Davis, an ex pupil of Lichfield Cathedral School, Captained the English Hockey Team at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964? Born in 1932 he also competed in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne Australia. Do you still know or have any photographs of Howard? If so please email me on [email protected]

How things have changed! On Saturday we held our annual Speech Day at Lichfield Cathedral School. A day I'm sure you will all remember well. From the archives I discovered the report from 1962 and here's what it said about the event.

What an absolutely fabulous day at Sheepwash Farm. First, we explored the vegetable garden where we saw leeks, lettuce, potatoes, pumpkins, onions etc. We even got to taste some fresh, yummy peas. We then went on a tractor ride to explore lots more of the farm and surrounding area. Learning so much along the way. After stopping off for lunch at Fisherwick Lakes, on our way back to Sheepwash farm, we went on a rollercoaster ride through the lake and winding paths. We then went on a ‘safari’, spotting different animals and beautiful wildflowers on route. A big thank you to Farmer Rob and Gardener Paul for such an amazing day! We loved it!
