This week we encourage you to dress your child in lightweight, comfortable clothes to help keep them as cool as possible in the heat. Thin t-shirts and shorts are best!

* Preschoolers do not need to wear their uniform.
* No baseball caps please. Bucket hat or legionnaire style are best for covering head, ears and neck!
* Crocs and sandals should fit properly and should be worn in ‘sports mode’ to help prevent trips and accidents!

Remember to apply sunscreen to your child before you drop them off in the morning, and we will reapply it as and when needed during the day 🧴

Don’t forget to pack spare clothes too, as there will be lots of water play! 😎💦

☀️ As temperatures rise, it’s important to take extra care to keep your baby safe, comfortable, and well hydrated.

❗ Breastfed babies don’t need extra water until they begin weaning, their feeds may be shorter and more frequent, so it's important for Mum to stay well hydrated too. Check your baby is staying hydrated by keeping an eye on the number of wet and dirty nappies they produce.

✔ Formula-fed babies can be offered small amounts of cooled, boiled water alongside their usual milk feeds.

Sharing ahead of the upcoming warm weather! ☀️

As the weather starts to get warmer, lots of families will be spending time in the garden. But when you have little ones it’s important to keep water safety in mind.

It’s scary to think about but drowning doesn’t happen like it does in the movies. A drowning child doesn’t splash about or cry for help. They slip quietly under the water, often unnoticed.

Fortunately, once you understand how and where drowning happens, there are things you can do to prevent it.

Our Watch out in water fact sheet offers bite-sized facts and tips on water safety. Please read and share: https://capt.org.uk/resources/watch-out-in-water-fact-sheet/

As the weather gets warmer it will be great to open windows and let the fresh air in. But toddlers and young children are at greatest risk of falling out and suffering serious injuries. Partly because their heads are heavy compared with their body so they can easily topple.

Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to keep them safe.

The safest cot for a baby is a clear cot. That means removing anything that isn’t essential, including toys and teddies.

Babies need just two items in their cot:

1. A firm, flat, waterproof mattress.

2. Lightweight bedding or a sleeping bag.

It’s important to remove anything that isn’t essential because items such as toys, blankets and bumpers could cover their face and obstruct their breathing.

After lunch today, Jen showed our Preschool children her new incubator and some special chicken eggs that we are going to look after. Everybody got to have a look and, as a group, we talked about important rules to keep the eggs safe. Later on, some of the children helped to make signs with the rules written on them as reminders. The eggs will be incubated for 21 days and will (hopefully) hatch on Tuesday 14th April! 🤞🏻🥚
