Getting ready for home ed art class tomorrow! 🫟 (11am- 1pm, Lichfield)

We have been asked if the class is suitable for younger children… yes! Activities can be adapted, message me to discuss!

For this week and next week we have space in the studio for younger siblings… let us know if you would like to bring one along! You can bring your own activities for them or they can experiment with the materials we have in class.

In this week’s art class for home educated children we will be creating mixed media artworks in a graffiti style!

We have space for some new faces, so if you have been thinking about bringing your child, we would love for them to join us! 💕🎨🫟🖌️

🎨🖌️ Yarny Bees, Lichfield (ages 7+) Please get in touch of you have a younger child who you think would enjoy this session. I can adapt activities to suit.

☕️ Parents, you are welcome to ‘drop and go’ or stay with your child.

🍪 Suitable for children who would benefit from a small group setting with a nurturing, relaxed environment. 6 children maximum. Biscuits and squash provided.

🫟 In every session there will be a variety of materials to choose from including acrylic paints, watercolours, oil pastels, chalk pastels, sketching pencils, charcoal and paint pens. We often get messy so please send children in old clothes or with an apron.

🎨 Each week we will be experimenting with various techniques around a central theme. Children may wish to follow the prompts provided or use the materials available to experiment in their own way. There is no pressure!

In my home ed art class this week, we will be looking at the artwork of Joe Lycett, From his exhibition, ‘Everything must go!’ currently on display at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

When I visited in the summer, I knew it would be the perfect inspiration for an art class! The artwork is playful, vibrant and fun. There’s lots to explore here but for this session we will be focussing on a ‘sea creatures’ theme… with the inclusion of playful colours and silly text optional!

What do we do in home ed art class? …. All sorts! 🫟🎨🖌️

There is always a prompt and a main focus that I share with the children… but then they are free to go their own way! I always bring a variety of media so children can make their own choices and experiment creatively.

This session had an abstract focus (brilliant for lessening the pressure of ‘getting it right’) and the addition of some new neon paints meant that experimentation was key! The children produced some wonderful bright, bold artwork while we discussed colour choices that ‘popped’ and the materials we could use to get the most striking effects.

🎨🫟 This is going to be a lovely, low-pressure starting session where we can experiment, create and play with colour, line and layering. I can’t wait to show the kids my new neon acrylic paints!

Look out for the school ping for signing up… it could go out from tomorrow onwards! I will start taking bookings once the school ping has gone out!

I have just arranged dates with the school. Please note this time club will be starting a little later, on Monday 21st September. Apologies for the late start but I have a hospital appointment Monday 14th which I really can’t miss.

Dates will be:

✏️✏️✏️ After-school Art Clubs! 🎉

I will be back in the following schools in September with my first unit of the year, ‘Drawing Club’…

Bookings are not yet open, please see below for how to book for your school. Info will hopefully go out to parents via each school in the first week, but I will also keep you updated on here so keep an eye out!

✏️ Mondays:
St. Stephen’s Fradley (Key Stage 2 only)

Bookings will open once the school ping has gone out to KS2 parents in the first week. Hopefully starting club on Monday 7th September.

✏️ Tuesdays:
Gentleshaw Primary (Key Stage 2 only)

Bookings will open once the school has emailed KS2 parents in the first week with booking instructions.

✏️ Wednesdays:
Greysbrooke Primary (Key Stage 2 only)

The school will email out information to parents within the first couple of weeks. Booking will be through ParentPay.

✏️ Thursdays:
Streethay Primary (Years 5 and 6 only)

I am excited to be starting at Streethay in September! The school are going to organise the bookings for the first half-term so please wait for communication from the school.

🦓 Click ‘SESSION 6’ for the ZEBRA workshop- Wednesday 12th August, 10-12pm.

🖌️ If your child has already made a canvas, this one is a little different… they will create a multi-media artwork (doodle zebra) to put in a frame! Please note the frames are glass and will not be handled by the children. (The framed artwork will be given directly to the parent at the end of the session).

🦄 If your child would prefer a unicorn theme, let me know and I will adapt the activities for them!

🎨 For most of the workshops, we recommend ages 7+ (parents can ‘drop and go’). If you have a younger child you would like to bring, please get in touch, you may be able to stay and support them. (Depending on space in the studio).

🍪 We aim to keep groups small with a maximum of 8 or 9 children. We provide biscuits and squash, please let us know beforehand of any allergies.

🫟 For all workshops, acrylic paint will be used, this is likely to get onto clothing and stain. Please send your child in old clothes or with an apron.

🎈All of my workshops can be booked for private parties!
