REFUGEE WEEK: Lichfield Cathedral School stands with refugees

This week the LCS Geography Department took Year 7 pupils on a Field Trip to Dovedale to help develop their understanding of river processes and landforms, as well as issues surrounding the impact of tourism in national parks, and practicing some of their ordnance survey map skills.

Settling quickly when moving to a new school is important. When pupils join LCS during the year, if they have moved into the area or changed school, we have a comprehensive network of support to help ease their transition. Our Admissions team and Form Tutors work closely with parents to understand passions and apprehensions; each new pupil has a couple of buddies in their class to look after them during the day, making sure they know where to go, taking them to lunch and introducing them to the rest of the year group. Our outstanding pastoral team will keep an eye on progress, checking in regularly. Any questions or issues will be handled quickly, and parents have full access to all teachers and support staff.

As our Headteacher, Mrs Hannam, says, these children come our way but once, and we make sure we get it right for them every day they are in our care.

This weekend, 48 intrepid students from Year 10 ventured into the Peak District for their Bronze DofE Practice Expedition honing their skills before their assessment at the end of term.

The announcement of the closure of Abbotsholme School is an absolute tragedy, and we realise what a difficult time this must be for the whole of the school community but particularly the families impacted.
