If you're looking for somewhere your child can relax and be themselves, or a place where you can meet other parents and carers who really understand, BLAST might be just what you need. BLAST (Burntwood & Lichfield Autism Support Together) is a grassroots charity offering a welcoming community for autistic children, young people, and their families across Staffordshire, and we'd love our families to know about them.

BLAST Saturday Club
Relaxed, low pressure sessions for autistic children and those awaiting assessment, with gaming, Lego, Pokémon, table tennis, arts and crafts, and no expectation to take part. There are separate sessions for under 10s and ages 10 to 16. Parents and carers can connect over refreshments nearby.
📅 Autumn dates: 10 and 24 October, 7 and 21 November, and 5 and 19 December

BLAST Lounge
A monthly evening support session for parents and carers at the Tesco Extra Community Room in Lichfield, with peer support, refreshments, and occasional guest speakers.
📅 15 October, 19 November, and 10 December

BLAST also runs sensory friendly family events, holiday activities, and workshops with professionals on topics like getting a diagnosis, the EHCP process, SALT, OT, and sensory needs.

🌳⛳🏓 GREAT Friday: Walking Group Adventures! 🏓⛳🌳

Last Friday, our Walking Group, led by the wonderful Mrs Macklam, headed out to Beacon Park as part of GREAT Friday (Talent and Enrichment), and what a day it was!

After a brisk stroll in the fresh air, our pupils took on the mini golf course with plenty of focus, laughter, and some very creative putting techniques. ⛳ Then it was over to the table tennis, where the rallies were fast, the competition was friendly, and the encouragement for one another was fantastic to see. 🏓

Days like this are what GREAT Fridays are all about: building confidence, working as a team, enjoying the outdoors, and making memories together. Huge thanks to Mrs Macklam for organising such a brilliant morning! 👏

Let's bring Friends of Queen's Croft back to life! 💜

Our school PTA hasn't been very active in recent years, but we'd love to get it up and running again, and we need your help!

The Friends of Queen's Croft are the group behind so many of the events our pupils have loved, including the Summer Fair, Christmas Fair, movie nights, and discos.

Without a PTA, we're unable to run any of these, and it's a real shame. Past fundraising has also helped provide a swing, outdoor gym equipment, planters for Forest School, support towards school trips and residentials, and a new set of bikes.

You don't need to commit loads of time. It might be helping out for an hour at a fair, sparing 30 minutes for a disco, or taking the lead in organising an event and allocating jobs to others. Whatever you can offer, it makes a big difference.

We're holding an initial meeting for anyone who's interested in finding out more and could offer something this year. There's no pressure and no commitment, just come along to hear what's involved.

📅 Wednesday 21st October at 5pm
📍 In person at Queen's Croft, where refreshments will be provided, or online via Microsoft Teams

The meeting should last up to an hour, but nobody's tied to the full time, so please join and leave when it suits you. We know how many commitments parents and carers have, and every little bit helps.

🌸☕ Introducing The Queen's Courthouse Community Café! ☕🌸

We're delighted to announce a brand new collaboration between Queen's Croft High School and Bar 55 on Wade Street, Lichfield! Our Year 14 students will be running a community café every Monday morning, and we'd love you to be there for the grand opening.

📅 Grand Opening: Monday 19th October
🕙 Every Monday during term time, 10:00am to 11:00am
📍 Bar 55, Wade Street, Lichfield

Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available, all served by our brilliant students as part of their Work Experience Programme. They'll be building hospitality skills, communication, confidence, money handling, and the independence they'll need for life after Queen's Croft. The café is not-for-profit, with all income reinvested into stock and supplies.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us for the grand opening, and everybody is welcome to come along each and every Monday during term time. Pop in, enjoy a drink and a snack, and support our students and our community café!

We're so grateful to 55 Bar for working with us to give our students a genuine workplace experience, and we can't wait to welcome you. 💚

🌟 Careers Fair at Queen's Croft: Parents and Carers Welcome! 🌟

We're delighted to invite you to our Careers Fair on Wednesday 7th October, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm, here at Queen's Croft.

If your child is in Year 10 or Year 11, this is a really important opportunity. Decisions about what comes next are closer than they seem, and it helps to see the options first hand, ask questions, and talk things through together as a family.

With over 12 providers attending, you and your child can:

✅ Talk to staff
✅ Meet employers
✅ Explore further education
✅ Find out about work and employment agencies
✅ Discover the options for the future, including apprenticeships, college, university, employment, and training

Coming along together means you can hear the same information, ask the questions that matter to you, and support your child to feel confident about their next steps.

Year 11 have been continuing their biology lessons, and today it was time for a sheep eye dissection! 🔬👁️🐑 Our students showed brilliant curiosity, careful technique, and a real willingness to get stuck in as they explored the structure of the eye up close, from the cornea and lens to the optic nerve. 🧤🔍 Hands-on learning like this really brings the science to life, and we're so proud of how Year 11 approached it. 👏

Make a difference. Become a Governor at Queen's Croft High School! 🌟

We're currently recruiting governors to join our Local Governing Body, and we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for:

🟣 A governor with educational or leadership experience
🔵 A parent governor (you must currently have a child at Queen's Croft)
🟡 A staff governor

Governors work together to provide strategic leadership, hold the school to account, and make sure our students get the best possible outcomes. It's a genuinely rewarding way to help shape the future of our school.

The commitment includes 6 full Governing Body meetings each year, sub-committee meetings as required, and school events, visits, and link governor opportunities.

We're looking for someone who is committed, confident, curious, a team player, and committed to our children and the wider school community.

Today, our KS3 pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit to the National Memorial Arboretum! 🌳🎖️

Throughout the morning, they were a credit to the school, showing great respect as they explored the memorials and learned about the stories behind them. Our pupils engaged brilliantly, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a genuine interest in the experiences and sacrifices commemorated there. 🙏

They also had lots of fun taking part in the Stick Man Trail, enjoying the outdoor environment while developing their observation and teamwork skills. 🌲🧭

We're incredibly proud of how respectful, curious and enthusiastic our pupils were throughout the visit. Well done, everyone! 👏

We're so excited to share this one, three spooktacular events are coming to The Hub in Wilnecote this October!

👻 Thursday 29th October, 5:30pm to 8:00pm, SEN friendly session
🎃 Friday 30th October, 5:30pm to 8:00pm
👻 Saturday 31st October, 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Expect a spooky VR ride, Halloween games, clink events, party games, a disco, entertainment, and a best dressed competition. The coffee shop will be open too, so grab a hot drink while the little ones have fun!

This week in Horticulture, our students have been talking about harvest. 🌱🥕 We've now gathered all the food we've grown, and we've discussed where all our food comes from.

The students then chopped and peeled vegetables and put them in a pot with butter, water, and a stock pot. We cooked it all together over the open fire. 🔥🍲

Most of them tasted the soup and said it was delicious!

Well done to all the students for taking part and working together to make the soup. 👏
