Great to host Cllr Janet Higgins - Lichfield Rural West - Reform UK, the Cabinet Member for Education and SEND at Staffordshire County Council today at The Bridge Academy πͺ’
It was great to talk about the journey our school has been on; our role working with the local authority to place vulnerable children; and the challenges we face in the current education & SEND climate.
Janet listened, and understood our context as a former teacher herself. She said she was impressed with the staff. She is right when she said the work they are doing to give the young people the best opportunities to reach their potential is so clearly evident! π«
Importantly, during her tour, she recognised our young people, and how they were polite and engaging. She said they were βdelightfulβ π

The Bridge Academy is CLOSED today, Friday 9th January 2026.
After an assessment of the safety of the site; the risks to staff, and students; and staffing levels, due to the inclement weather, it is necessary that The Bridge Academy needs to remain closed today. It is our intention to reopen as normal on Monday 12th January 2026.
This email has been circulated to staff, families, and transport providers.
Many thanks and stay safe
