The bit you don’t see… 🤍
This is a bit of a personal post and it might be a bit long, so bear with me.
The last few weeks have been full on.
A fresh new term with everyone back into sessions. New people starting with us. Last-minute cancellations and timetable changes. A new online platform with a few teething problems. New enquiries, messages, emails… and everything else that comes with running a growing business.
I’ve also started gradually building my own timetable back up after having my third baby a few months ago. And for those who don’t know, I also home educate my other two children, so they’re with me 24/7.
Our amazing parents have, on the whole, been incredibly patient and understanding during this busy period, and I’m so grateful for that.
But sometimes I don’t have all the solutions and I can’t always fix everything.
If you’ve written down the wrong time and don’t turn up, or put the wrong address into your satnav, I will genuinely empathise. Mistakes happen.
But I will also stand by the fact that our tutors’ time is important.
My part of the deal is to find you an amazing tutor who is ready to teach at the time and location agreed.
Your part is to show up.
I can’t be available to call, chase, rearrange and solve problems every minute of every day. I have three small children. I also tutor. I run a business. And sometimes, I might even just need a break!
This isn’t supposed to be a moan. I’m incredibly lucky to have the life I have and incredibly grateful that the business is busy.
But there is a real person behind Lichfield Tutoring.
The reason I started this business was so that fantastic teachers could continue doing what they love and supporting a community of wonderful children.
So please remember, before you send that stern message or strongly worded email, there’s a person on the other side of the screen.
They might have an inconsolable baby on their lap.
They might have been up half the night.
They might already be having a really difficult day.
They’re still going to do their best to help you — but they’re human too.
In a world where we can be anything, let’s be kind. 🤍
