September is creeping up! 📚👀

We’ve been making the most of the last few weeks of summer and slowly starting to get ready for the new term.

Our first sessions back are just 11 days away, so we’re busy getting some fun activities prepared! 🎲🧩

We’ve been choosing some favourites from Playful Learning Games - Learning Resources ready to use in our upcoming sessions. Games are one of our favourite ways to practise and revisit skills, introduce new concepts and keep learning fun.

Whether children are returning to school in September, continuing their home education journey, or simply coming along to see us for some extra support, we’re looking forward to a fun term ahead! 💛

Our group timetable for September is here! 🌿📚

We’re so excited to be continuing our home education groups this September, with a range of engaging sessions designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and make learning fun.

We’ve also got two new afterschool groups starting for those in Year 6 to support them in the run up to SATs and for children in Key Stage 1 to build confidence in phonics.

Our groups are kept small and relaxed, with plenty of games, discussion and hands-on activities. We want children to enjoy learning, ask questions and feel confident to have a go.

As well as our weekly groups, we also offer:

✨ Bespoke small groups

Whether your child needs support in a particular subject, wants to learn alongside a friend, or you’re looking for a bespoke group, we’d love to chat.

What does learning look like at Lichfield Tutoring? 👀

If you’re expecting workbooks, sheets and lots of practice testing… we’ll be honest… we’re probably not the tutors for you! 😂

Instead, you’ll find games, challenges, movement, crafts, problem solving and lots of laughter.

It might not always look like the learning we are used to seeing, but every activity has a purpose. Whether we’re building confidence with phonics, practising times tables or developing writing skills, we’re always thinking about how children learn best.

For us, relationships come first 💛

When children feel comfortable, valued and enjoy coming each week, they’re much more willing to have a go, make mistakes and keep trying. That’s where the magic happens ✨

The summer holidays are almost here! ☀️

It’s been a whirlwind race to the finish, and the last few weeks have been busy, emotional and full of celebrations! 🥲🤪

We’ve said goodbye to some incredible children as they move on to exciting new chapters (although they’ll always have a special place in our hearts 💛). At the same time, we’ve loved celebrating fantastic reports, brilliant results and so many personal achievements with our pupils.

To every child we’ve had the privilege of working with this year: thank you for letting us be part of your learning journey. We hope you’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved and just how far you’ve come. We certainly are.

We’ll be seeing lots of you over the summer for more games, learning and fun (we still have a limited number of sessions available!), but for everyone else…

Anyone else a bit warm? 🥵

We’ve loved taking our learning outdoors (in the shade!) this week!

We adapted this game from Playful Learning Games - Learning Resources Reading and Writing Number Pairs.

We hid number cards and the written words around the garden and once found, the finder had to match them and put them in order using reasoning skills.

We hope you’re managing to stay as cool as possible! 😎

Our tutors are taking the extreme heat into consideration when planning for the children ☀️

A week ago today, we welcomed our third beautiful little girl into the world 💛

We are all doing well and enjoying this precious time together as a family of five, getting to know our newest little addition.

Thank you so much for all of the lovely messages, kind wishes and patience over the last few weeks. Your support means a great deal to us.

I’m looking forward to slowly getting back into the swing of things, but for now we’re soaking up the newborn cuddles and making the most of these special early days ✨

Lichfield Tutoring will be continuing as normal with the support of our wonderful team of tutors, and I’m incredibly grateful for them during this season 🤍

🎲 Word maze 🎲

We’ve been keeping cool this week by playing some of our favourite spelling games in the coolest room we can find 🥵

For this game, you move your way around the board (we adapted the board by using our favourite ) and each time you land on a letter, you collect it.

Once you get to the end, the challenge is to make as many words as you can using the letters! Perfect for discussing onset and rhyme and digraphs and trigraphs!

Ad - brand ambassador

Our ‘Guess Who’ got a revamp this week! 🤓

We’ve been revising shape names and properties and this was a great way to put them into practice!

We discussed angles, vertices, faces, curved surfaces, edges and parallel and perpendicular lines 🟨
