Hi everyone,

Hope you've all had a brilliant summer! We are back this Saturday at Cramond Kirk, and we can't wait to see everyone on the floor again.

Class times as usual:
Beginners: 9:30am
Intermediate 1: 10:15am
Intermediate 2: 11:00am

A quick reminder: if you haven't signed up yet for this term, please do so as soon as you can. If you're not sure whether you're signed up, just give me a shout!

Something new and exciting: The Online Breakdance Battle

We're teaming up with our friends at Breakdance Ormiston to run a fun online battle between our two groups, open to dancers from P3 to S2.

Here's how it works:
Each dancer is paired one on one with a dancer from Ormiston, matched by ability so it's a fair and fun battle
Each pairing does two rounds, filmed at class
We'll stitch all the battles together into one video everyone can watch and enjoy
Filming kicks off in September and runs through to October half term

It's a brilliant chance to show off what they've learned, build confidence, and be part of something a bit different. Taking part is completely optional.

If your child would like to be involved, drop me a line or let me know at Saturday's class and we'll add them to the line-up.

Hello folks - An invite from the breakdance community!

Coming up this August we have an All Styles 1v1 qualifier as part of the Detours Festival World Championships in Oct. Details as follows:

Sat 8th Aug | 12:00 - 14:30
All styles 1 v 1, open to all (styles, ages, levels etc…)
Free to enter

Host: Milan (Detours Festival 🇧🇪)
DJ: Miceal (No Way Back Crew 🇧🇪)
Judges:
* Mad Max 🇧🇪
* ⁠Tesko (Dimestop 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿)
* ⁠The Crowd (acts as 3rd judge)

Winner takes all:
* £500
* ⁠flights
* ⁠accommodation
* ⁠place in world final on 24th Oct, 2026 in Brussels.

No pre-event registration. Register on the day from 1130 - 1200 at event site.

Classes will return AUGUST 22nd.

Cramond Kirk gives us a stable, proper space to keep building the academy from. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to secure a venue similar to the Commonwealth again in town.

I’m planning a midweek Advanced Class at DanceBase (GrassMarket) to be held on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening - more details to follow on this.

I know this venue and timing won't suit everyone - whether that's distance, timing clashes, or something else. If Cramond Kirk isn't workable for you, I'm genuinely sorry, and I don't want anyone to feel forgotten in this move. Please reach out to me directly and I'll do what I can to help - whether that's pointing you toward alternative options or keeping you posted if anything changes that might work better for your situation.

Class prices are increasing by £1, from £7.50 to £8.50 per class. This helps us keep improving the quality of teaching, venues, and equipment as the academy grows.

Hi All,

Quick one from me.

There will be a substitute teacher this weekend (Billy) - He was my breakdance teacher when I was 10 years old so certainly a breakdance master!

I will be returning as usual from next week after returning from holiday with my wife this weekend.

Just to make a quick mention to say all class changes have been made and this should be reflected in Pebble now - please give me a shout with any questions regarding subscriptions/ refunds/ class times etc.

Hi everyone,

Update on classes returning from 18th April:

All Breakdance Academy students will temporarily move to Cramond Kirk Hall for this term only, running between 9:30am–12:30pm.

I understand this is a significant change from the Commonwealth, and I really appreciate your flexibility. This is a short-term solution, and we’ll have a new permanent home from August.

Key updates:
Class duration: Reduced to 45 minutes
Pricing: Reduced by 25% (for Commonwealth students)

Credits/Refunds:
If you’ve already paid for April at the Commonwealth, this will be credited back
If Cramond doesn’t work for you this term, you will of course receive a full refund

New class schedule:
9:30 – 10:15: Group 1
10:15 – 11:00: Group 2 (unchanged)
11:00 – 11:45: Group 3
11:45 – 12:30: Group 4

I’ll be emailing everyone individually to confirm which class your child should attend. Cramond students will mostly remain in their current levels, but there may be some adjustments depending on ability.

Thank you again for your understanding - I know this is a big change, but it was necessary, and I truly appreciate your support.
