We provide funding, free instrument loans, trainee internships and opportunities that help young people build confidence, teamwork and musical skills. The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust (SSPDT) is the national charity that works to introduce piping and drumming tuition to state schools in Scotland and that encourages the formation of schools pipe bands. We offer cash grants for tuition and other related band costs, and run a national Instrument Lending Scheme that provides sets of bagpipes, b-flat concert chanters, practice chanters and drum-pads and sticks free of charge to organisations. We co-create new piping and drumming tutor positions, support professional development and networking for schools tutors in the form of internships and apprenticeships and through national forums, and we organise the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships - the biggest schools piping competition in the world.

🥁 Trainee Snare Drumming Tutor Opportunity in Fife! 🥁

Are you an aspiring tutor looking to grow your teaching skills? We are looking for a trainee to support Lochgelly High School pipe band programme and associated schools.

This is a fantastic chance to gain hands-on experience and learn alongside seasoned instructors while helping young people on their drumming journey.

Today at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Scotland’s teaching community are together to share best practice, network and strengthen our sector and no gathering of music folk would be complete without the wonderful sound of the pipes.

Their talent, hard work and heart are showcasing Scotland’s distinct musical heritage to the world, carrying our traditions with integrity, joy, and a huge amount of fun.
