The payments also provide year-round support and at key stages in your child's life.

👨🏼‍👩🏼‍👧🏼Scottish Child Payment: over £100 every four weeks that you can get for every child you look after who's under 16 years

🍼 Best Start Grant Pregnancy and Baby Payment: £796.65 for your first child then £398.35 for any child that comes after your first

🧸 Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment: £331.95 payment when your child is between 2 years old and 3 years and 6 months old

📚 Best Start Grant School Age Payment: £331.95 when your child is first old enough to start primary school

🍎 Best Start Foods: a prepaid card to buy healthy food during pregnancy until your kids reach the age of 3

The Powderhall Bridge which connects Broughton Road to St Mark's Park over the Water of Leith is closed indefinitely. Use access through the lower bridge through Powderhall.

ST MARK'S PARK BRIDGE CLOSURE 🌉

Council officers have shared that the pedestrian bridge connecting Broughton Road and St Mark's Park has been temporarily closed due to failing its most recent inspection.

The department are currently reviewing the details of the report to understand the viability of bridge repairs.

I'm afraid I don't have a timescale at present but will keep you updated on here.

If you are on a low income you could be entitled to a school clothing grant of £125 for each child at primary school and £157 for each high school pupil. Applications are open now via the link in the post below.

Please note that the council have discretion to give the grant to families who don’t receive the qualifying benefits but who are suffering from financial hardship.
