SMC FP Club

Alumni are a huge resource throughout life, from the early stages of your career, providing useful business contacts to companionship in later years.

The SMC FP Club aims to help alumni to keep links between each other through affiliated clubs and events both in Edinburgh and across the UK and wherever concentrations of SMC alumni live. The Club has a proud history of affiliated sporting, social and branch clubs and links to these can be found below. You can contact the Club Secretary, John Hughes, [email protected]. The Clubhouse is now managed by ESMS and enquiries regarding bookings should be directed to Ruth at [email protected]. We support the school (ESMS) to run the Engage and Connect career and business networking programmes, bringing together former pupils and parents to support both current pupils and young former pupils with their career development. The Sydney branch of the SMC FP Club recently held its annual lunch. 5 FPs attended, including Adam Doran and his wife who travelled up from Hobart, Tasmania! The annual lunch takes place on the first Tuesday after ANZAC Day. The 2025 lunch will be on 29th April next year, at the Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay, Sydney.

JAKE WIGHTMAN WINS WORLD CHAMPS GOLD!

SUPERB PERFORMANCE IN EUGENE WITH JOSH KERR IN FIFTH

Jake Wightman struck gold at Hayward Field to win the Men's 1500m final in stunning fashion in 3:29.23.
The Scot surged clear in the final 200m or so to head Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen and third-placed Mohammed Katir. Josh Kerr made it two Scots in the top five after being in touch with the leaders on the last lap.
What a moment for Jake, who won the British title in Manchester recently and was fifth in the Doha World Champs.
He becomes the first Brit to win a medal in the Men's 1500m since Steve Cram won gold in 1983.
Many congratulations to Jake, his family, dad/coach Geoff and all at Edinburgh AC who were involved in his development over a number of years.

On Wednesday 9th March, our 1st XV will be playing Merchiston Castle School in the U18 Scottish Cup final at 6:30pm at BT Murrayfield on the international pitch.
