Lawrence Buell, a scholar of American literature and one of the pioneers of ecocriticism, famously wrote that:

"The environmental crisis is fundamentally a crisis of the imagination."

When culture is dominated by narratives of dominance, detachment, or endless growth, it narrows our ability to imagine more sustainable ways of living...

What L. Buell What meant is that literature, storytelling, and the arts play a crucial role in shaping how societies perceive the natural world! ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿพ

"Nature Twist" has come to an end! ๐ŸŒฟโœจ The pilot project, carried out in collaboration with Jungle Van, has borne fruit in the form of three permaculture mini-rain gardens built in schoolyards by first-grade children! ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฆ‹

We invite you to check out the photo report from Waldorf Primary School "Istota" in Wieliczka. A big thank you to the teachers and parents for their trust!

The Herbal Spiral is a harmonious, self-regenerating space for plants and animals, enhancing biodiversity in the garden and supporting small-scale water retention. Built from stones, filled with soil, and planted with herbs, this structure creates microclimates that allow different types of herbs to grow in one place according to their specific needs. At the top, it will be dry and rocky, while at the base, it will be moist and shaded! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ

As we know, seven-year-olds think in images, making it difficult for them to grasp cause-and-effect relationships presented in the abstract language of logic within ecology lessons. Thatโ€™s why throughout the process, we were accompanied by characters from a nature-based fairy tale! Tosiek, the lost snail, wise pollinators, and the talkative Mrs. Earthworm created an imaginary world in the children's minds, which we then translated into real-life construction through teamwork and muscle power. ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’ช

The project was conducted in both Polish and English and was made possible thanks to a Business Gateway grantโ€”thank you! ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ

Last week in Edinburgh, we delved again into the pre-cinematic era of lights and shadows, engaging in activities with an antique Magic Lantern ! ๐ŸŒœ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒ›

Storytelling, glass slides painting, and shadow puppets took us back in time to let us appreciate the old art of projecting images... ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

Thank you everyone for coming!

Why chasing games? ๐Ÿค“

They are all about practising fear! Through these playful pursuits, children engage in high-energy activities that simulate the adrenaline rush and quick decision-making required in real-life scenarios of danger. This type of play allows them to manage their stress responses, improve their reaction times, and develop strategies to navigate fear-inducing situations. As they run, dodge, and strategise to avoid being caught, children learn to cope with fear and anxiety, building resilience and emotional regulation skills! ๐Ÿ™€

How do your children like to play chasing games? ๐Ÿ˜
