Merry Christmas 🎄 to all my students and families! I’m sorry that Covid prevented our final week of Christmas music enjoyment but I look forward to seeing you in the New Year❄️

I got fed up with trying to track down individual Christmas songs in my 20+ books…and which ones have duet parts… I even noted the key in case I need to know in future😎. Took me all afternoon but should be worth it 😊 And no, I couldn’t have done it on a spreadsheet

So good to see this is back - it’s been a highlight of my musical year for over a decade. Highly recommended.

Start-of-term announcements:

1. My schedule is currently full. I am operating a waiting list for new enquiries.

2. Please remember that missed lessons will be charged for, unless it is possible to arrange a swap.

3. For prepaid blocks of lessons, please give four lessons’ notice of discontinuing. These can be taken as lessons or, if you wish to stop earlier, fees in lieu are due.

4. The more you practise, the faster you improve 😊

Emails to all in my schedule are going out this week with individual times and information.

Big changes to the Music Room over the half term break! The harpsichord is now home from its exile in the next room, so we have all four keyboard instruments to enjoy together*: grand piano, Clavinova, clavichord (looks like a small table, so has a “this is not a table” notice on it), and harpsichord 😃. I’m loving the tidiness too!
*but not all at the same time, as the two historic instruments are tuned at Baroque pitch 🎵⬇️

I’m starting to add MTB (Music Teachers’ Board) to the exam options I offer. They are fully accredited with Ofqual — including UCAS points — and operate a very flexible exam structure. I attended a webinar today about how they work and will be exploring further over the coming weeks.
