💫 Student Spotlight : Kalob 💫

🎸 What a superstar! 🎸

At just 8 years old, music student Kalob is quickly becoming a confident guitar player and is absolutely smashing his recordings during his lessons! 🤩

This week, we recorded his chord song “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from Disney’s The Lion King. 🦁🎶

Kalob has been working incredibly hard on mastering the speed of his chord changes, and during this recording he demonstrated an amazing ability to memorise his major, minor and 7th guitar chord shapes. 👏🎸

It’s fantastic to see his confidence, hard work and musical ability developing week by week 😁

Keep up the fantastic effort, Kalob! I am one very proud guitar teacher! 🤓🎸🎶

💫 Student Spotlight : Evie 💫

I was reduced to happy tears on Friday at The Studio whilst listening to my vocal student, Evie, perform her repertoire choice, “I’d Give My Life for You” from Miss Saigon.

This song has been such a wonderful opportunity for us to explore and develop Evie’s vocal technique, particularly her vibrato, dynamical control and breath management.

Over the course of working on this piece, I have watched Evie grow not only vocally, but also in her confidence, emotional connection and understanding of character. Seeing her take the technical tools we have been working on and apply them so beautifully within her performance was incredibly rewarding as a teacher.

Her emotional intensity and characterisation completely blew me away. At just 15 years of age, Evie demonstrates such a mature and powerful vocal quality, alongside a wonderful instinct for storytelling.

Moments like this are exactly why I love teaching. Watching a student develop, overcome challenges, discover their voice and then step forward and truly own their performance is one of the greatest privileges of being a vocal teacher. 🤓

Evie, you should be incredibly proud of yourself. Your hard work, commitment and willingness to explore and develop your voice are already taking you somewhere very special. ✨

I cannot wait to continue building on everything we have worked on and to see what you bring to your next song during our future intensive sessions!

💫 Summer Sessions…Student Spotlight - Muno 💫

Guitar student Muno has been attending lessons at the studio for several years now, and during that time, he has gone from strength to strength, continually developing both his guitar knowledge and performance skills.

Check out his amazing recording of “Last Request” by Paolo Nutini — a truly flawless performance! 🎸

For this piece, we introduced some F barre chords and focused on dynamical changes to bring more warmth, expression and structure to the song.

As always, an exceptional performance from my guitar student Luke, who has been developing his fingerpicking technique during his lessons.

Working on "Hey Brother" by Avicii, Luke demonstrated superb rhythm, accuracy and co-ordination, moving cleanly between chord shapes while keeping his picking pattern steady throughout.
