Our summer graduations start tomorrow and to welcome the Class of 2026 into the alumni community, graduates from across Heriot-Watt University are sharing the advice and experiences that stayed with them long after leaving campus.
Here’s a message for those preparing for their next chapter:
"Starting your life after graduation can feel exciting, but you don't need to have everything figured out right away. Take your time to explore different opportunities, learn new skills and discover what truly interests you. Most importantly, believe in yourself and be patient, as success doesn't happen overnight. With effort and persistence, you will find your own path. All the best!" - Loke Yuen, MBA 2008

From a graduate collection at Heriot-Watt to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York!
Alumna Nadia Pinkney graduated in Fashion from Heriot-Watt in 2016 and now teaches art and fashion in Midlothian. Nadia recently saw her graduate collection featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest exhibition in New York after catching the attention of Met Gala curators.
Inspired by her personal experience of Alzheimer’s disease affecting both her grandmother and great-grandmother, Nadia’s Remember Me Knot collection explored themes of memory, ageing and cognitive decline through intricate prints and tangled materials based on brain scans.
Originally created as part of her degree at Heriot-Watt, the collection has now found a place alongside some of the world’s most celebrated fashion pieces, an extraordinary recognition of her creativity and the deeply personal story behind the work.
We’re incredibly proud to see Nadia’s work receiving international recognition, congratulations! 👏
