Last week, Scotland’s U19 Women’s national cricket team visited Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Heriot-Watt Malaysia was thrilled to host the Scotland Women’s U19 Cricket Team as they prepare for their debut at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. The team shared their inspiring journey with students and the wider community, reinforcing their commitment to empowering women in both sport and education. Driven by purpose, Heriot-Watt Malaysia continues to challenge barriers and champion excellence.

Heriot-Watt Online has launched their online MSc in Computer Science. This programme, delivered in collaboration with Coursera, is designed to bridge the tech skills gap by delivering high-quality, flexible learning.
Dr Abrar Ullah, Programme Director for the online MSc in Computer Science and Associate Professor of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University, said: “Central to this online programme is flexibility - not just in how students manage their time but in how we have designed the curriculum and learning experience to meet the needs of the learner and the industry. Our goal is to empower professionals with the skills required to advance their careers and achieve their professional aspirations.”
Designed by academics from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, this degree combines Heriot-Watt's research excellence and strong industry links with content from tech giants such as Google, IBM and Meta to equip students with in-demand skills.

Since the beginning of The Watt Club, our members have celebrated together on the anniversary of James Watt’s birthday - 19 January, reminding ourselves of what an inspirational community we belong to.

We are excited to invite you to a special guest lecture by Dr. Martin Mackay, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Rallybio and proud alumnus of Heriot-Watt University. His talk, Discovering Drugs for Devastating Rare Diseases, has previously captivated audiences at Yale University.
Martin earned a First Class Honors Degree in Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University. With over 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotech research and development, he has held leadership roles at Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Alexion. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Charles River Laboratories, Novo Nordisk, and Springworks Therapeutics.
