On the eve of the 81st anniversary of Victory in Europe, society members and Committee members of the Edinburgh University Russian Society had the privilege of participating in a public commemorative event in Dundee, laying wreaths and flowers at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial in honour of the crew of Soviet submarine B-1 and their commander, Israel Ilyich Fisanovich.

The Society’s participation in this act of remembrance stands as a fitting tribute, acknowledging not only the sacrifices of Soviet submariners in the common struggle against Na**sm, but also the shared history that bound Allied forces to the city of Dundee during the Second World War.
