I am delighted to be one of the artists selected to deliver the Shetland Remembering Together Covid Memorial Project. The project is being delivered by Shetland Arts and includes nine creatives working on a range of projects. My project "Back to the Light" has two elements. "Together" is a free public event to be held at Hays Dock, Lerwick on the evening of 29th March. The event will feature large scale interactive projections and a soundtrack that includes work from students on the HNC Music programme (more details to come).

Water Wall by Steph Denholm
Created as part of the Light Art and Projection module for the MDes Lighting Design programme, this project allows the viewer to be in control of this art in a very temporary and organic way. Light, water and motion combine to create an interactive art installation completed by the viewer walking in and around the space it appears in. All of the components that make up this piece are hidden from the viewers eye which allows them to contemplate and realise that they are completing the art work, as without the actions of the viewer, only static white light appears. The end result is an ever changing rippling water reflected onto a wall.

It's nice to relax in front of the camp fire after a hard days work. The camp fire effect at Rundetaarn art exhibition in Copenhagen is made of Fagerhult Tibi fixtures with colour filters in yellow, red and orange.

On the way home from another inspiring PLDC. Saw little of Copenhagen, but had some great discussions with friends old and new. I can hardly wait for the next one - Rome in 2015.

ERCO's excellent Light Scout Guide includes interactive exploration of various facade lighting strategies.
ERCO Light Scout - Guide - Facade
Shining any light beyond the facade surfaces, either to the sides or over the top, should be avoided.

Very nice timelapse by Luke Shephard of iconic lit buildings in 36 cities across Europe. More than anything, demonstrates how much of our cultural heritage still enjoys (endures?) floodlighting rather than creative lighting that responds to and interprets the architecture. However, I still find it inspiring as a movie. Tell me what you think.
