It’s been a really hard couple of months so I’ve not been posting much. However, gifts from previous pupils and kind texts from parents have a way of making things easier.

Advanced Higher trip to see The Glass Menagerie. Absolutely wonderful weekend.

Honestly, my heart swells. Taking kids who feel English is not for them and helping them find their motivation and joy is so rewarding.

One of my Adv Higher pupils from last year gave me this beautiful Wuthering Heights vase and flowers. 🌹 🥰

This type of feedback never ceases to make me happy.

This is quite adorable. A pupil who wasn’t sure if they’d be having sessions this year and is excited to return. Excited for tuition! 🥰

I do indeed work miracles. 😂

Small world when two unrelated clients recommend you to the same parent. 🥰

Let’s talk books. I can’t recommend the benefits of reading enough. However, it is important to remember that audiobooks are just as valid and should not be seen as an inferior form of consuming literature. The brain actually processes the two experiences in strikingly similar ways. Functional MRI scans have demonstrated that whether we take in words through our eyes or ears, the same regions of the brain associated with comprehension, imagination, and emotional engagement are activated. Studies comparing recall and understanding between readers and listeners also reveal little to no difference in retention. Audiobooks further support vocabulary growth and exposure to complex sentence structures, much like print books, and the performance of skilled narrators can even enhance comprehension by adding tone, pacing, and emotion to the text. In this way, audiobooks not only deliver the same intellectual benefits as reading but can also deepen empathy and engagement through auditory expression. Therefore, if you struggle to approach a physical book an audiobook is a great alternative.

Forgot to add these before I went on holiday.

A few late results coming in from pupils who have been away. So proud. This was a lot of revision and a lot of hard work. So so proud!
