THE BORROWED ROOM
Two men. One room. One hour.
In a small library meeting room in a coastal town, two men who grew up together meet to record a conversation about why some people leave and others stay. What begins as an ordinary interview gradually becomes something far more personal.
Set in real time, The Borrowed Room is an intimate new Scottish chamber play exploring masculinity, memory, belonging and the pressures of growing up in a small place. As old stories resurface, humour, tension and shared history give way to questions of shame, silence and accountability. Informed by wider lived experience of difference in rural Scotland, the play examines what happens when someone returns to confront a past another person thought had long since passed.
Written by Dr Steven Maxwell. Directed by Sam Pitcher.
Starring Sean Connor and Craig Hunter.
Presented as a staged development performance during Edinburgh Pride weekend.
There will be a post-show discussion after the performance on Fri 19th, from 20:30 – 21:00.
