5 livres, 5 univers et énormément d’émotions. ❤️

En août, j’ai lu des histoires d’exil et d’amitié, des récits intimes sur les violences faites aux femmes, un délicieux roman épistolaire, une exploration complètement obsessionnelle du couple et un roman bouleversant sur la santé mentale et les liens familiaux.

1. La petite fille de Monsieur Linh de Philippe Claudel
2. La nuit au cœur de Nathacha Appanah
3. The Correspondent de Virginia Evans
4. Mon mari de Maud Ventura
5. Les heures fragiles de Virginie Grimaldi

Des lectures très différentes, mais qui ont toutes réussi à me toucher et à me faire réfléchir. 🤓❤️

Et toi, as-tu eu un coup de cœur littéraire récemment? Raconte-moi en commentaire ❤️💬

How many French books have you started with the very best intentions only to quietly abandon them a few chapters later? 🤔

Reading in another language requires a completely different approach.

✅You have to learn when to look up a word and when to keep going.

✅You have to become comfortable with not understanding everything.

✅You have to choose books that work for both your interests and your current reading ability.

✅And, perhaps most importantly, you have to stop using every difficult page as evidence that your French “isn’t good enough”.

Reading in French is a skill in its own right.

And like any other skill, it can be learned. ❤️

Which of these 7 reasons is the biggest one for you?

Save this for the next time you’re tempted to abandon your French book on page 37. 😂

I may have gone a little quiet about this one, but I promise, I hadn’t forgotten. 😋

In fact, quite the opposite. I’ve been reading, researching, planning and thinking about how to turn an idea I had months ago into the kind of reading community I would genuinely LOVE to be part of myself.❤️

Not another French class.

Not a book club where you’re left to struggle through 200 pages alone and hope for the best. 😂

But a space where reading in French becomes something you actually look forward to because you have people to read with, talk to, disagree with, laugh with and keep you going.

And after months of quietly working on it…

The French Reading Circle is finally coming this October. 📚❤️

Just 12 readers for our very first circle.

I’ll be sharing a LOT more over the next few weeks.

For now, consider this your official “it’s happening” announcement. 🥰

Who’s excited? 😍🙋🏻‍♀️

One of the hardest parts of learning to read in French?

Finding something you actually want to keep reading.

Not because it’s “good for your French”.
Not because your teacher told you to.
But because you’re genuinely invested in the story. ❤️

That’s one of the reasons I’m so picky about the BDs I choose for my Learn French with Comics workshops.

I want them to give us rich language to explore, of course, but I also want my students to forget, every now and then, that they’re reading in their second (or third!) language.

Globe-trotteuses has definitely passed the test. 😂❤️

We’re only a couple of weeks into our 8-week adventure and there have already been plenty of reactions, questions, unexpected conversations and a LOT of curiosity about what happens next.

For me, that’s where so much of the magic happens: French becomes the language through which we discover, react, laugh, disagree, get curious and connect with each other.

And we’ve still got a whole world to travel together. ✈️🚂🚢

P.S. My next Learn French with Comics workshop will be coming this autumn. If you’d like to join us for the next adventure, you can join the waitlist through the link in my bio. ❤️

Apparently everything is “Kinda chic” right now, so here’s my French teacher edition. 🇫🇷🤭

Learning another language as an adult can feel so messy. You mix up your tenses, you mean something and say something else altogether. Sometimes you understand 90* of a conversation and then someone asks you a question and suddenly, rien!!

But that is also where the magic happens. In my classes, I want French to be something you USE and not something you you wait to use before you feel like you’ve mastered it.

So yes, making mistakes, reading a bande dessinée, laughing, debating, asking to people to repeat themselves and speaking imperfect French - it’s all kinda chic actually ❤️

Which one of these do you relate to the most ? 💬

“I’d love to read a book in French, but I don’t think my French is good enough yet”.

I hear this ALL THE TIME. But you don’t have to wait till you are C1 / C2 to start reading real books in French. The secret is choosing the right book for your level. 📚

I’ve put together 9 French novels that I recommend for B1 learners. These books will challenge you without making you want to give up after 3 pages. 🤭

And I write about why I’m recommending them and how to go about reading them, on my blog.

Click the link in my bio to discover all 9 and save this for your next trip to the bibliothèque/ librairie ! ❤️

Have you read a book in French yet? If yes, which one ? 📚😊

🇬🇧May was filled with simple joys, gentle moments, and lovely surprises.🥰

Between the colourful tulips, the last cherry blossom petals, sunny reading breaks on my balcony, inspiring encounters, cotton-candy skies at sunset, and a few new comic books that somehow found their way onto my already overflowing TBR pile (as if it needed any help growing 😅), this month reminded me that happiness is often hidden in the little details of everyday life.❤️

Here are a few of the moments that brightened my month of May. ☀️

What about you? What small things brought you joy this month? 💬
