Dear Parents / Carers

RE: Picnic in the Park

On Wednesday 24th June 2026, we would love to invite you to join us, if you can, for a fun picnic in Saughton Park. P1-7 will spend the morning in the park as a reward for all their hard work this session. The classes will walk there after their register has been completed at approximately 9.10am.
We would love for as many adults as possible to attend and spend the morning having fun with the children. We do not require any additional adults to walk with the children so please meet us at the park at approximately 9.40am.
The children will get to play in the playpark, explore the walled gardens and play games on the grass field/basketball court.
All children should bring some snacks and a drink to have when they are there. Please also be aware of the weather on the day. Providing a coat if it is to be cold and damp and sun cream and hat if it is to be warm and sunny. In the event of heavy rain, we would have to cancel the trip. A message will be sent out in the morning to all families if this is the case.
Classes will make their way back to school at approximately 12pm in time for lunch.
What a great way to end a fabulous year! We look forward to having fun with as many of you as possible.

Yours sincerely

Mr P Wilson

Acting Deputy Head Teacher

We are planning to go ahead with Sports Day tomorrow at 9.15am even if there is some light rain. Please dress your children for the weather. If the weather creates unsafe conditions, we will have to postpone or abandon and we would then find an alternative date to complete events with the children in school. Unfortunately, this may mean the new date would be at short notice meaning parents may be unable to attend. Thank you for your understanding and please pray for dry weather tomorrow.

We will be joined by Ally and Emma from Parents For Future Scotland tomorrow at Sports Day. Our Learning for Sustainability Leadership group have been working on the Edinburgh Cleaner Air Programme this session and our next step is to try and get a 'walking bus' set up to support children travelling to school without the use of a car. Ally and Emma are going to share information about this at Sports Day. They will have a stall set up at the relaxation rehydration station behind the bike shed. Please go over and chat to them about our plans.
