For centuries Scottish communities along the coastline cultivated and harvested oysters. Inspired by the Scottish Oyster our ‘Marcail’ Pearl Collection (pronounced Mar-Kale) takes inspiration from the shape of the oyster and the Scots word for Margaret meaning Pearl. Using jewellery silversmithing techniques of roll printing, filing, sawing and soldering you will construct and make a contemporary sterling silver necklace which will hold a pearl within an oyster inspired shape.

A fantastic start to our one year course. The summer project was all about using and recycling fabrics to become wearable objects. The fashion industry is one of the world's global polluters and how can jewellers use fabrics and repurpose the fabrics into something new. . Lots of reweaving, melting burning of the fabrics to change them into something new. . The students work reflected not only reflected climate change& workers rights but the colonial history too. Great work everyone.
