🏴 We’re getting kilted up for Leith! 🥾

For 20 years, we’ve been proud to support children, young people and families across Leith — and now, our team is taking on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to help us continue that journey.

In just 2 days, we’ll be swapping our usual day-to-day for tartan, trainers and a whole lot of determination as we take on the Kiltwalk together!

This challenge is about more than the walk. It’s about celebrating 20 years of supporting families, strengthening our community and making a difference — while raising vital funds to help us continue this work for years to come.

So, we’re getting kilted up for the community and taking every step with the families we support in mind. 💙

📚💙Happy International Literacy Day! 🧡📚

At Dr Bells, we know that literacy starts long before a child learns to read or write. It begins with talking, singing, sharing stories, exploring books and simply having fun with words. 💬🎶📖

International Literacy Day is a wonderful reminder of how important it is that every child has the opportunity to develop a love of language, stories and books from the very beginning — and that parents, carers and families play such a huge part in making this happen.

So today, why not grab a favourite book, make up a small story, sing a song or share a rhyme together?

You don’t need fancy resources — your voice, your time and your imagination are more than enough! 💙

Because when we share stories, we’re not just reading… we’re growing little minds, big imaginations and a lifelong love of learning. 🌈📚

💙International Charity Day💛 5th September💙

Today we celebrate the incredible difference charities make, not just across the world, but right here in our own communities.

Charities are built on something simple but powerful: people caring about people.
They bring communities together, stand alongside those who need support, create opportunities, and help make sure that no one has to face difficult times alone.

For 20 years, Dr Bells Family Centre has been proud to be part of the Leith Community, supporting local and children and families, listening to what families need, and creating a place where people can feel welcomed, valued and supported 💛

Twenty years means, 20 years of families, friendships, memories, challenges overcome and lives impacted. It is a story that belongs to the whole Leith community.

Now, as we work towards our 20 year campaign, we want to celebrate that journey, while looking ahead to the next chapter.
Because the need for charities doesn’t disappear. Communities change, challenges evolve, and families continue to need places where they can turn to for support🧡💙

So today on International Charity Day, we want to say thank you to everyone who makes our work possible, our families, funders, volunteers, staff, partners, supported and the wider Leith community 🧡

🌟 Move More September! 🌟

This month, we are celebrating the many fun and simple ways children and families can move more! 💃🧗‍♀️👣

From dancing and soft play to stepping stones, outdoor adventures and everyday movement, we’ve been exploring how getting active can look different for every family.

We’ve also been chatting with parents about ideas for moving more indoors and outdoors, sharing simple suggestions that can easily be built into everyday family life.

Because movement doesn’t have to mean organised exercise, it can be fun, playful, and part of our everyday routines! 💚

Dr Bell’s is proud to stand alongside parents and organisations in Edinburgh today, supporting the Parents’ Strike and calling for greater recognition of the importance of paternity pay.

Families deserve the opportunity for both parents to be present during those crucial early weeks without facing financial hardship.
Paternity leave and fair pay aren’t a luxury — they’re an investment in families, fathers and children.
