Well done to the Cargilfield pipe band who performed at the The Royal Bank of Scotland and Royal Highland Show Supper Party on Friday night. A fantastic performance.

The band represented the school and were excellent ambassadors for Cargilfield.

A big thank you must go to Mr Jim Walker for his time and expert leadership as always

On Monday evening it was the chance for our Form 7 and Form 8 musicians to perform, and what a lovely evening we had! At this time of year it is an opportunity to reflect on everything our Form 8 musicians have achieved at Cargilfield as they move on to pastures new, and we heard some truly accomplished performances. They should be proud of themselves and feel confident as they introduce themselves to new teachers and a new peer-group at their next school.

Meanwhile the baton passes to a very talented group of Form 7s, who will be top of the school next year. They are wonderfully engaged in their music and supportive of each other and I know they will take a lead in all things musical with enthusiasm, confidence and considerable skill. Thank you to all our performers for an evening to remember.

Our fantastic Leavers rolled up their sleeves and made a real difference at Cramond Kirk gardens! Working together, they took on a range of tasks - from digging and preparing the ground to tidying the harbour area and clearing weeds behind the benches in front of the museum.

A dedicated team laid a brand-new path using matting, carefully edged it with large stones, and finished it beautifully with a covering of woodchip. Their teamwork, energy and enthusiasm helped transform the space into something truly special.

The day was made even more memorable with the sound of pipers and drummers, marking the opening of the Cramond Woodland Nature Art Trail. We are so proud of our Leavers for their hard work and community spirit.

Our Form 5 and Form 6 musicians regaled us with a fantastic array of solo performances on Thursday evening. This is a chance for our younger musicians to practice presenting music to an audience on an intimate scale, and we were so proud to see children who, at the start of the year were incredibly nervous and really had to be persuaded to give it a try, now performing with such assurance. The nerves never go away, they are part of being a musician who cares about their music, but you do learn to cope with them and to focus yourself in the music, forgetting about people watching, or those ‘what if it goes wrong?’ worries. Of course being well-prepared helps, as does the experience of something going wrong and being able to continue, but the standard of the playing really was quite exceptional.

Well done also to those F5 performers playing for the first time – the first of many performances, I am sure. I think we can all agree that the future for music at Cargilfield is very bright indeed with this cohort of F6 children moving into the senior years!

P3 put on a wonderful performance last week with their production of The Greatest Showman. We were very proud of all the children and the hard work they put into preparing for the show. Their confidence on stage, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the performance were a joy to see! The children performed brilliantly and showed great teamwork and dedication throughout. Thank you to Stagecoach for all their hard work in preparing the children and supporting them throughout the production. Well done, P3!

Great to have former Cargilfield parent Sue Bruce from Fettes_College here this morning to discuss ‘Transition to Senior School’ with Form 8. Lots of important messages: embrace challenges, don’t be afraid of failing, don’t give up, be true to your own values, ask for help, try your best, take responsibility, and above all be yourself, have fun and laugh a lot!

Our Form 7 Art Scholars visited Modern 1 and Modern 2 this week to find inspiration for their portfolios. They explored the collections, discussed the artists and techniques that caught their eye, and are now heading back to their own work full of fresh ideas.
