We are E-U-BDS, EUBDS! The ultimate dance society on campus! Come alone, with a partner, with flat-mates, with anyone else you can persuade to come.

For all of you who want to waltz across the dancefloor, tango till dawn, or learn just enough steps to keep you from embarrassing yourself at a social night: come to ballroom dancing! Whether you've never set eyes (or feet) on a dance-floor, or have been dancing the cha-cha since before you could talk, we want you! Come in jeans and trainers, in a pretty dress with killer heels or in a full-body wetsuit and flippers (not particularly recommended): we don't care. The aim is to learn some dancing, while having fun and meeting new people. It's not that hard, so come along and give it a go!

It’s time to introduce our Webmaster Kamila!

Currently studies: completed PhD in Precision Medicine, working as a Scientific Communications Manager 👩🏼‍🔬

Started dancing: Different styles since approx 7 years old, with EUBDS since 2017

Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Ballroom Tango, Latin Samba and Paso Doble 💃🏻

Most memorable dance memory: Getting to finals of Blackpool in Pre-Inter WQ

Hobbies outside of dancing: Puppy walks, yoga, jigsaws

What I want to say to newcomers: “Have fun and sign up for as many competitions as possible, because dancing season flies by very fast” 🕺🏽

Currently studies/studied: LLM EU Law/ Diploma in Legal Practice

Started dancing: October 2025

Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: whichever Chris approves of most 😉

Most memorable dance moment: competing in beginners quickstep only knowing one step ❤️‍🔥

Hobbies outside of dancing: Target Rifle, Being a menace, having a flair for the dramatics

What I want to say to newcomers: Come to ICDC!!!

It’s time to re-introduce our Social Secretary Miralia 💃🏻

Currently studies/studied: History of Art and English Literature

Started dancing: Ballet and flamenco from age 3, started ballroom last year!

Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Viennese waltz and tango

Most memorable dance moment: Nighttime tango in the rain by McEwan Hall.

Hobbies outside of dancing: Following naturally from dance I guess, anything creative that allows me to hear music! Whether that’s because I’m using my hands and listening to music at the same time, like making jewellery or drawing, or because I’m playing the music myself: on the guitar, the piano, or singing :)

What I want to say to newcomers: I’ve met friends for life thanks to this society - the most wonderful, caring people - and in my unbiased(!!) opinion, we have the coolest events of any society ;)

Most memorable dance moment: getting smacked in the face while social dancing a jive and then dancing a quickstep with my partner holding a tissue to my face to stop the nosebleed

Hobbies outside of dancing: running, football, reading

What I want to say to newcomers: yes, it is scary at first but it’s so worth it and nothing beats a good quickstep home after a night out

My most memorable moment is the ETDS 2026 weekend in Netherlands, two and a half days of competition and social dancing!!
Hobbies outside of dancing : Reading, hiking, skiing and taking care of animals

What I want to say to newcomers : Ballroom dancing is so fun, it was a real escape from the stress of my first year at university. Don’t be afraid of trying, everyone is very nice and supportive

Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Quickstep & Cha Cha

Most memorable dance moment: Placing 4th in Beginner/Novice Foxtrot (my least favourite dance!) at my first competition

Hobbies outside of dancing: reading, walking, and doomscrolling

What I want to say to newcomers: The most important rule of dance is that you enjoy it, so don’t worry about getting something wrong! And, if you want any guidance, you’re surrounded by (in my unbiased opinion) a wonderful group of people who are happy to help. Come and give it a try! 😊

Starting with our PRESIDENT Arne 🕺🏻

Currently studies/studied: BSc Computer Science

Started dancing: January 2020
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Quickstep and Samba

Most memorable dance moment: Performing for the opening ceremony of Hamburg’s press ball in 2023. It was an amazing feeling to be on stage with all my friends, after the months of hard work and practice we put in!

Hobbies outside of dancing: Kickboxing, 3D-Modeling, Volleyball and Salsa

What I want to say to newcomers: Don’t be scared of making mistakes or other people dancing around you! We all just pretend to know what we’re doing—you just get better at pretending :)

What a year it’s been, from classes and competitions to socials, laughter, friendships, and some core memories made both on and off the dance floor 💃🏻🕺🏻

Thank you to every single person who made this year so special. Whether you came to one session or every event, you’ve all been part of what makes the EUBDS family so amazing ❤️

We hope you loved being part of EUBDS as much as we loved having you, and we can’t wait to see many of you again next academic year!
