COGratulations to St Gerard's Primary School, NLC - on achieving their Bronze School Award! The highlight of this application was the COGulous supporting statement and COGtacular central display π€©
"As a whole school, staff have actively engaged with Emotion Works by exploring its value and impact through shared training sessions, resources, and videos, as well as independent learning within their own classes. This has led to a strong sense of enthusiasm and commitment, with staff taking the necessary time to become confident in delivering the approach. Staff also work collaboratively by sharing helpful resources and ideas with their stage partners, further strengthening consistency and practice across the school. Learners have been introduced to the different cogs at developmentally appropriate stages and are beginning to use this language with increasing confidence when discussing their emotions and responding to situations. Emotion Works displays are now a consistent feature across all classrooms and are regularly referred to, alongside a whole-school display in the gym hall that celebrates shared learning from every class. As a school, we are committed to continuing this journey, further developing our understanding of emotions and their impact on our daily lives, and ensuring all pupils are supported to recognise and navigate their own emotional experiences both in and beyond the classroom"
