To celebrate Scotland reaching the world cup this year, we are allowing pupils to wear a Scotland top to school on the following days:
Friday 12th (vs Haiti Sunday 14th)
Friday 19th (Vs Morocco)
Wednesday 24th (Vs Brazil)

If your child wishes to wear a national team jersey of another country when they have a world cup game, they may do so.
The country must be playing in the world cup that day and it must be a national team jersey, no club teams.

What an amazing and inspiring morning we had with 3 time Paralympic Games footballer Jonny Paterson. More goals and caps Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 than King Kenny. Not bad for someone who doctors thought wouldn’t walk or talk when he was born.

The children were exhausted by the time they had finished the fitness circuit! Thank you to Jonny and everyone at Great Athletes for an amazing and inspiring morning.

If any sponsorship money could be given to the office by next money that would be great.

A winning send off for the Scotland National Team before they head to the FIFA World Cup next week. Lots of goals for the kids to cheer.

The kids were a credit to the school, their grown ups and themselves.

It was great to have another couple of first Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 game on the trip. Not least Mr Pinkney who I hope enjoyed his first trip to Hampden 🙂

The Gracemount P5-7 girls participated in the Summer Shield Competition this evening.
They played Bonaly in the first game and faced a fast, organised and well drilled side. They managed to create a few chances but couldn't capatlise.
The next game was against Blackhall. A win for either team would see them finish 2nd and advance to the semi finals.
Gracemount found their groove and strung some nice passes together to create problems for the Blackhall defence. Esme managed to get to the ball first during a desperate scramble in the box to smash the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately Blackhall fired back with a breakaway goal of their own shortly after. With the game tied up at 1-1 at full time, this meant the match had to go to extra time. There was nothing to separate the teams and a penalty shoot out loomed. Gracemount needed a hero. Step forward, Ellie. She took the ball down the wing herself and rifled a thunderbolt into the top corner. Talk about grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck.

With seconds left on the clock, Gracemount held on and advanced to the semi finals group.
The girls played valiantly in the semi finals but it was a bridge too far against quality opposition, although they did come frustratingly close to scoring a few more goals.
Runa chased down opposition players in midfield and run up and down the pitch relentlessly to help her teammates. She also took 2 shots as goalkeeper and was solid at the back.
Violet was dangerous upfront making clever runs and putting defenders under lots of pressure.
Emelie was a jack of all trades playing in almost every position. She was really effective stopping low powerful shots in goal by getting down fast with confident saves.
Esme also played various positions effectively, including goalkeeper. She also worked tirelessly wherever she was asked to play. She also made great saves in goals!
Maya settled into her position in defence winning vital 50/50 challenges. She saved a number of sure goals with last gasp tackles.
Katie was a great striker and never stopped moving, making her impossible to mark. She created lots of chances for herself and others. She was very unlucky not to score herself.
Emily showed great composure and skill in defence and midfield to get the team out of tricky situations. She jinked and bobbed her way out of trouble to create time and space for other players.
Ellie was fantastic wherever she popped up on the pitch. She was so effective and efficient, there seemed to be 2 of her on the field. She was simply phenomenal.

This group of girls came together a few weeks ago, some of them having barely kicked a football in their lives. They looked the real deal tonight and stepped far out of their comfort zone. They worked tirelessly for each other and ran themselves into the ground in every game.
Thank you for the sublime effort from every player and the endless cheering from families on the sideline. The girls and their families did the school proud.
Fantastic effort!
