🌲✨ Forest fun! ✨🌲

Our nursery children had a fantastic time outdoors—climbing trees 🌳, exploring up and down the hill ⛰️, and building dens together 🏕️.

🌿✨ The Care Inspectorate Quality Improvement Framework for early learning and childcare highlights every child’s right to play — reminding us that young people should have fun, experience joy, and enjoy high-quality play and learning both indoors and outdoors. It also emphasises the importance of young people being meaningfully and actively involved in leading their own play and learning.

At Murrayfield Nursery, our team has fully adopted this approach. The children enjoy regular visits to Corstorphine Woods, where they explore, imagine, laugh and learn — whatever the weather brings! ☔🌞

Muddy boots, happy hearts and big smiles… that’s what outdoor learning is all about. 💛

🐷✨ “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!” 🐺💨

At Murrayfield Nursery today, our young people have been fully immersed in the classic tale of The Three Little Pigs—and loving every moment of it!

Through imaginative role play and loose parts, they’ve been exploring the story in their own creative way. From huffing and puffing to hiding behind “wooden” houses, they’re bringing the tale to life with big ideas and even bigger giggles! 🪵🏠

📚 According to the Quality Improvement Framework, children should have frequent, appropriate opportunities to develop their thinking and problem-solving skills through imaginative play and storytelling. These experiences help them extend their own thinking, practise new skills, and consolidate their learning in ways that are meaningful to them.

Can you guess which part of the story they’re acting out? 👀👇

🌟 A Special Visitor at Murrayfield Nursery! 🌟

Last week, we were honoured to welcome Natalie Don-Innes, Minister for Children, Young People and The Promise, along with her colleague Scott Sutherland, to our nursery.

After a warm tour of our setting, the children delighted in helping prepare some home baking and a lovely cup of tea for our guests — and it was just as fun (and sweet!) as it sounds.

The Minister shared wonderful feedback about the nurturing environment at Murrayfield and praised the positive, engaging interactions between our team and the children. Moments like these remind us how special our nursery community truly is.

Thank you to our incredible team and children for making the visit so memorable! 👏

Special shout-out to our fabulous chef who used two courgettes brought in by one of our children who carefully grew them in his garden at home! Dean wasted no time in incorporating them into the lunch for the day which was an exciting treat for all!

We are so proud to have such motivated and passionate team members👏🤩
