Being so far north we get amazing sunsets in Edinburgh in the winter. Today we walked in the Pentland Hills just 30 minutes from the city centre by bus.
Torduff Reservoir just a short bus ride from the centre of Edinburgh.
View of the famous Arthur’s Seat from a short and easy walk near Torduff Reservoir. Just at the end of the number 10 bus route.
This is the view from the top of Carlton Hill in Edinburgh. It is looking to the Pentland hills and some of the Royal Mile.
Morning snow in Edinburgh.
We went for a walk in the Pentland Hills. They are very very close to Edinburgh and you can get there by bus.

If you like anything and everything to do with flying, this is the excursion for you!

The Scottish National Museum of Flight is located about 45 minutes drive to the east of Edinburgh, at an airfield called East Fortune.

Here are probably more similarities than differences.

They both require the development of core skills in fluency, reading, writing and listening, the application of linguistic principles and, of course, plenty of hard work.

It is important to have a good basis of General English to be able to communicate effectively.
However, Business English courses focus on particular vocabulary, topics and skills that are applicable to the workplace and enable you to communicate accurately.

Did you know that all the classrooms here at ECS are named after Scottish islands?

This classroom - 'Arran' - is perfect for small groups and one-to-one lessons.

It's named after the Isle of Arran, a popular holiday location with lots to explore!

This depends on your needs and what you would like to achieve during your course.

The English for Effective Communication course provides you with the opportunity to work together with other students to practise speaking and listening skills and cultural communication.

A ‘Combination Course' gives you the opportunity to spend a few hours in a general speaking & listening group to improve communication skills with other students and then 1-to-1 tuition, focusing on your specific needs.
For example;
Business, Financial, Legal, Medical, Aviation, Tourism, Environmental, General communication and many other specific areas.

‘Individual Tuition’ focuses entirely on your specific needs.

You tell us what you would like to cover and we will design a course specifically for you.

If it is a dry day and you fancy a longer walk with a 360 degree panoramic view, you could head over to Arthur's Seat.

This is an inactive volcano in the middle of Holyrood Park, it takes about 45 minutes to walk to the top from near the Scottish Parliament. Please wear suitable shoes for climbing this hill and be careful as it can be very slippery, espcially if it has rained recently.

You can choose how many weeks you would like to study.
One week is usually the minimum length of course.

However, some very busy clients come for intensive three or four day courses (individual tuition). There is no maximum length.
We love tailoring courses to suit YOU.

Just get in touch with what you need, we'll be happy to help.

All our classrooms are named after Scottish islands!

Shetland, the classroom, is located on the top floor of our building.
Shetland, or the Shetland Islands, is an archipelago which lies between Norway, Scotland and the Faroe Islands. They are about 170km north of mainland Scotland and accessible via ferry or air.

Beautiful! Come and visit us in Scotland For more information just send us a message.

Stirling Castle has played an important part in Scottish history for hundreds of years.

The castle has been restored and refurbished and it is a popular visit with our students.
It takes approximately one hour to get to Stirling by minibus from Edinburgh. Students can either explore the castle on their own, with other students from the school or join a free guided tour taken by the castle guides.

There is so much to see at Stirling Castle, it has such splendour, amazing colour, and wondrous craftsmanship. Stirling Castle was once the home of Scotland's Renaissance Kings and Queens.

If you have studied English in the past you should have some idea of your level.

On the application form we ask you to approximately grade yourself.
You can tell us the level of the last English course you studied or exam you took, even if it was a few years ago.

You will be sent a needs analysis form before arrival and have a Skype or Zoom call with one of our teachers before your arrival.

To help you get an idea of your approximate level of English, you can take a quick online level test with Cambridge English https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/test-your-english/

Smiling floods your brain with happy chemicals, and makes other people more relaxed and patient.

When you’ve finished the phone call, meeting or whatever, take a moment to congratulate yourself, even if it wasn’t perfect.
You did your best. Well done.
