The Centre in Currie, Edinburgh South, is run by Pip Watt, a qualified English and English as a Foreign Language teacher with over 16 years teaching experience both at home and abroad. She has an MA Honours degree in English as well as a Post Graduate Degree in Education. qualification. Pip's dedication to and belief in Kip McGrath are proven by the fact that she runs three Centres (Currie, Barnton (Edinburgh West) and Livingston). At her Centre, Pip is joined by a team of highly qualified specialists who provide excellence in the tuition of Primary and Secondary maths, English, reading and spelling as well as CfE, Entrance Exams, National Exams, Intermediate and Higher. Some of the secondary tutors are also SQA examiners. The excellence of the secondary tuition is proven by the exam results. In 2013, 100% of Pip's students passed their exams with all Standard Grade candidates achieving credit passes. All of our students sitting entrance exams gained places at the school of their choice. Pip and her team draw on their considerable experience to create tailor made programmes for each individual student which enable them to reach their full potential. The supportive, caring environment of the Currie Centre is conducive to providing the best possible learning experience for all those who attend. Introducing Lynne Dunsmore – an invaluable and popular member of our team!

Qualifications: B'ED (Hons) Primary Education
Teaching: 25 years in West Lothian Council
Tutoring: Kip McGrath for 13 years

Teaching is a rewarding job where it is satisfying to see children progress both academically and non-academically as rounded people and future citizens. Every child is unique and I love getting to know every child and their families in Kip McGrath. The children always make me smile with their funny stories and I love how open and honest children are too. Every day is different in primary teaching where we work as a team and share ideas and expertise in different subjects.

At Kip McGrath I love to see the children's confidence and skills grow through a personalised programme. I can really focus on the teaching and making a real difference in the children's lives. You get to see them progress first-hand and overcome challenges in Maths and English and feel more motivated to succeed in the classroom and beyond. At Kip McGrath we can address specific weaknesses and strengths and we use our teaching skills to engage children who may otherwise find learning more challenging in the traditional classroom.

Teaching is a vocation and not just a job. It provides purpose, variety and the satisfaction of empowering others to achieve their potential and explore the world around them.

Introducing one of our very well qualified Science tutors: Dr Gillian Rodden.

Dr. Rodden has considerable experience of teaching Chemistry at all SQA levels and also International Baccalaureate since qualifying as a teacher in Chemistry and Science. She has worked in both the public and independent sector in Scotland.

In 2023 100% of her N5 Chemistry students achieved A grades at N5.

She has experience of private tutoring at N5, Higher and AH levels in Chemistry, as well as Biology and Physics Nat 5.

Dr. Rodden is an SQA marker for The Advanced Higher Project in 2025.

She is a highly skilled practical chemist having worked in chemical, medical and oil and semiconductor industries, in addition to post-doctoral research posts in the areas of oil and gas, compostable packaging and polymer materials.

Dr. Rodden’s aim is to always raise the attainment of her pupils beyond their expectations with challenging and interesting tutoring.

I gained my degree in Mathematics from the University of St Andrews and then undertook my Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Manchester. I have taught G.C.S.E. and A level, Nat 5, Higher and Advanced Higher and the International Baccalaureate. There isn't a topic in Maths that l have not taught many times. I have great enthusiasm for my subject which comes across in my teaching. I believe that Maths can be fun. I love its patterns, logic and structure. I can make Maths understandable to all levels of students. I love teaching as it makes a difference to every student that you engage with.➕➖➗✖️
