Protozoa, though microscopic, have quite interesting features! Here's a fun fact: Some types of protozoa have a special ability called "cryptobiosis." This means they can virtually suspend their metabolism and survive in a dormant state when environmental conditions become too harsh. They can then "wake up" and return to normal life when conditions are favorable again. It's almost like they have their own superpower!

In ancient Greece, a unique form of government was invented that we still use today - democracy. This system of government, where the citizens have a say in the decision-making process, was first developed in the city-state of Athens in the 5th century BC. This is often considered one of ancient Greece's most important contributions to the modern world.

One fun fact about ancient Greece is that they invented the Olympic Games! The first Olympics were held in 776 BC in Olympia, in honor of the king of gods, Zeus. The only event was a 200-meter sprint known as the "stade", and the victor of this game had the honor of having an olive wreath placed on his head. The Olympics were held every four years like they are today and they were the most famous games in a four-year cycle of international athletic contests.

The only regular polygons that can "tile the plane" (completely cover the plane without gaps and overlaps) are the hexagon, square and equilateral triangle. This means that if you laid hexagons side by side, it would cover an infinite plane completely without any spaces remaining. This pattern can be seen in nature, such as the hexagonal cells in a honeycomb created by bees.

The Pirahã language, spoken by the Pirahã people of the Amazon, is known to have the fewest phonemes (distinct sounds) of any language, with as few as 10 or 11. But what makes it truly unique is that it lacks numerals and specific terms for color, using only relative descriptions like "light" or "dark". It's a prime example of linguistic relativity where language shapes our understanding of the world.

The English language is a true ‘borrower’. About 30% of English words come from French, but you'll also find words borrowed from many other languages, like Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch. This is one of the reasons why English has so many synonyms!

Did you know that helium is the only element discovered in space before it was found on Earth? The element was first detected during a solar eclipse in 1868 by a French astronomer Pierre Janssen. Its name comes from the Greek word 'helios', meaning sun.

The only two elements that are liquid at room temperature are mercury and bromine. Mercury is a heavy, silvery metal and bromine is a reddish-brown non-metal. All other elements are solid, gas, or synthetic and man-made, and don't appear naturally at room temperature in a liquid state.
