A little bit of learning for me today! ❤️

Our five wonderful Boogie Beat class teachers, who deliver sessions within nursery settings, all hold a **Duty of Care First Aid certificate**.

As I also run our community classes, I’m working towards my full 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification. Today, I completed the six-hour online section, with a further six-hour practical day to come with the lovely Mini First Aid Edinburgh.

I’m really looking forward to completing the course and knowing that, should anything happen during one of my community classes, I’ll have the knowledge and confidence to respond. 🩹

"Boogie Beat is simply a train to a Magic world of fun, musical rhymes and tales for kids."

This is exactly what we set out to create, a world where children get swept up in the music, the stories and the fun of it all.

Thank you Fabio for such a lovely review. Bringing imagination alive is what we're all about, and moments like this remind us why we love what we do 💛

When you're buried in the day-to-day running of a business, it's really easy to miss just how much you've actually achieved.

For me, awards are a chance to stop, reflect and properly look at the impact I've made, especially when there's no manager sitting you down for a yearly "look what you've done" conversation.

Sometimes the application itself is the reminder you needed.

Absolutely loved getting the chance to talk about my wonderful business Boogie Beat Music & Movement Edinburgh, Mid & East Lothian with Krissy.

Krissy has helped me grow so much over the last 4 years she is so knowledgeable and it was great to share my successes.

Thrilled to be a Finalist for community impact especially as 2026 had been my year of focusing on intergenerational workshops and building communities!

🎙️ New episode of The Class Business Podcast is live

This one’s a must-watch if you’re:

✅ Building a team around your business
✅ Trying to create more impact in your local community
✅ Looking at nursery or care-home partnerships
✅ Working out how to balance commercial growth with work that really matters
✅ Trying to delegate more instead of doing everything yourself

In this episode, I’m joined by Mairi from Boogie Beat Music & Movement Edinburgh, Mid & East Lothian, a finalist for the Community Impact Award, sponsored by Socially Shared.

Mairi came into Boogie Beat after long COVID made returning to teaching unrealistic. She still knew she wanted to work with children, but she also knew she couldn’t build a business around delivering every single session herself, so she brought in her first team member almost immediately and used nursery work to create the financial base she needed.

What makes her story really special, though, is what happened once that base was secure. Mairi started asking where the “magic” was, and that led her into intergenerational work that brings children and older people together through music, movement and play.

We talk about:

✨ Leaving teaching and building around recovery
✨ Why Mairi hired early rather than trying to do it all herself
✨ Growing nursery work into around 36 sessions a week
✨ Bringing nurseries and care homes together
✨ Watching care-home residents come alive when children enter the room
✨ Creating relationships that continue beyond the Boogie Beat sessions
✨ Building a five-person team and playing to individual strengths
✨ Why open communication matters when your team’s spread across different settings
✨ The KitKat marketing idea that helps Mairi stand out to nurseries
✨ Why following up is where the real work happens
✨ Delegating the parts of business that drain your time
✨ Using awards to stop and recognise how far you’ve actually come

One line from Mairi really stayed with me: “I’m a big believer in not just chasing money, but also chasing magic.”

And I think that’s such a brilliant way to look at business. You absolutely need the commercial foundations, but once those are there, you can start asking where your work can create something bigger than the transaction itself.

A huge Boogie Beat welcome to Matilda! 🎉🎶💙

Matilda has recently moved up to Scotland from down south, and while planning her new life here, she was looking for a role that would complement the classical music tuition business she runs.

With Boogie Beat being all about music, imagination, movement and working with children, it sounded like the perfect fit — and we’re absolutely thrilled to have her joining our team! 🥰

Today was Day 1 of Matilda’s training, and we certainly threw her straight in with a double intergenerational day! 👵👶🎵

First, we visited our lovely friends at Drumnohr, together with the children from Red Fox Nursery, before heading to a brand-new partnership at South Park Care Home in Duddingston, where we met our new little friends from Cherry Trees Nursery. 💕

It was such a lovely first day and a perfect introduction to just how special Boogie Beat sessions can be.

Over the next two weeks, Matilda will be following me all over the place, completing lots of different parts of her training and getting to know our wonderful nurseries, care homes, children and families.

So, if you spot a new face alongside me at your Boogie Beat session, make sure you give Matilda a big warm Boogie Beat welcome! 👋💙🎶

We’re so excited to have you on the team, Matilda! ✨
