🌙 RABI AL-AWWAL MOONSIGHTING

Join the Iqra moonsighting team on Thursday 13th August at Blackford Hill, Royal Observatory Edinburgh, as we come together to sight the new moon of Rabi al-Awwal.

Let us come together as a community to revive the beautiful Sunnah of moon sighting, a practice encouraged by our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

We will pray Maghrib Salah together at the Royal Observatory, followed by looking out for the new crescent.

Please bring your family and children and give the younger generation an opportunity to experience and connect with this beautiful Sunnah.

🔭 If possible, please bring prayer mats, binoculars or a telescope.

Everyone is welcome — come along and help us revive the Sunnah! 🌙

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh,

We are delighted to be starting a new Girls Youth Club at Iqra Academy for young sisters aged 11+, in shā’ Allāh.

As our young girls grow, it is so important that they have a place where they can feel connected to the Masjid, strengthen their relationship with Allah ﷻ and their Deen, build confidence, and develop good friendships with other Muslim girls.

We want the Masjid to be somewhere our young sisters feel they belong — a place they enjoy coming to, where they can learn, talk, ask questions, have fun and grow together in a positive Islamic environment.

The sessions will combine Islamic reminders and Qur’an reflection with discussions, activities, games, friendship and personal development — making Deen something our young sisters can connect with and carry with them in their everyday lives.

✨ Our first session will be Saturday 15th August, 11:00am–12:30pm, in shā’ Allāh.

We warmly encourage parents to bring their daughters along, and we encourage our young sisters to come, bring a friend and be part of something special from the very beginning.

May Allah ﷻ make this a means of strengthening the īmān of our young sisters, keeping their hearts attached to the Masjid, and raising a generation of confident Muslim women who love and live their Deen. Āmīn.
