Cramond Boat Club

Cramond Boat Club The Cramond Boat Club has its Clubhouse and moorings at the mouth of the River Almond, only 4 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.

The River Almond is tidal with access to the Firth of Forth for approximately 5 hours each tide. The Club organises dinghy and keelboat racing on a handicap basis, and class racing is arranged when numbers justify it. The Club holds open regattas and long distance races each season. The waters of the Firth of Forth are ideal for pleasure sailing and include many islands, sheltered harbours and attractions such as the world-famous Forth Bridge, the historic Inchcolm Abbey, Cramond Island, Inchkeith, the Isle of May, Aberdour and South Queensferry.

Record turnout for annual Women’s Race!

Following our recent Intro to Racing afternoon run as part of CBC's Women on the Water programme, some really exciting racing was enjoyed by a record number of participants in all-female crewed dinghies.

For a change we had a steady F2 and the rain even held off! during the 3 shortish races.
Hotly contested start lines saw lots of jostling for position, followed by some closely fought tussles around triangular and windward/leeward courses. In the end two firsts and a third handed overall victory once again to reigning champion Leonie and her crew Yvonne in the appropriately named Wanderer 'Jennifer'. CONGRATULATIONS Leonie & Yvonne!

Big thanks to the club’s menfolk for manning the safety boats for us!

⛵ “Aye, the nights are fair drawing in…”

Thursday marked our final chance for an after-work sail this season—and what an evening it turned out to be! After an uncertain start, the weather cleared beautifully and three boats took to the water, sailed by Lawrie, Andy, Francis and Paul.

Campbell and Steven provided safety cover, with Steven also managing to escape the safety boat for a blast in the Laser. Thanks to Francis for swapping places!

A cracking way to round off the season’s evening sailing. 🌅

Getting back after a wonderfully calm sail. Sometimes you have to make your own excitement... Such as leaving it to the very last moment to be able to come back in before stranding due to the low tide! 😬

How much wind is too much wind? 💨⛵

A breezy evening on the Firth of Forth with three ILCA Radials making the most of some challenging gusts. It wasn't just the sailors being pushed around either... the anchor dragged, giving us a very port-biased start line! 😂

Huge congratulations to Andy C on taking the win. And a big thank you to Francis and John for
