🍂 This Week’s Adventures at Edzell Nursery! 🍂
We had a fantastic start to the month, celebrating the season, learning new skills, and sharing some wonderful experiences together!
On Monday, we rolled up our sleeves for a baking session, making delicious oatcakes from scratch. The children loved learning each step, and they enjoyed their homemade treats for snack on Tuesday! 🥣✨
Tuesday brought even more excitement as we created “fireworks” outdoors to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. In the afternoon, we returned to our beloved walks with a trip to the Botanic Gardens! The children enjoyed feeding the birds and soaking up the garden’s beaut. 🌿🐦
Wednesday was an extra special day when storyteller Clare Mulholland visited for a storytelling session funded by the Story Ripple outreach programme! In exchange for this magical experience, we received family donations for our food bank, making it a heartfelt community effort. Clare’s storytelling captivated the children, inspiring their imagination and language skills as they listened to stories and joined in with songs. 🎶📖
We also introduced the children to Land Art, inspired by artist Andy Goldsworthy. Using “sticky glue” (actually honey!), they created beautiful natural art by sticking leaves to trees, exploring colour, texture, and the wonderful world around them. 🍁🍯
Our Montessori materials continued to engage the children throughout the week. We are beginning to see some favourites emerge: the Roman Arch, which helps children with spatial awareness and problem-solving; the Sound Boxes, perfect for refining listening skills; and the Walk the Maze activity, which promotes balance and concentration as they navigate a winding path with care.
It has been an inspiring week full of learning, joy, and connection! Thank you to all our families for your wonderful support in helping us bring these experiences to life. 💚
