๐ŸŒŸโœจ Adventures at Our Nursery This Week โœจ๐ŸŒŸ

This week at our nursery has been a blast of fun and learning! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿž We have explored the fascinating world of animal vision versus human vision, the artwork our little humans created during our ArtBud sessions! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Each piece is a masterpiece, reflecting their unique perspectives and imaginations.

๐ŸŒฟ Our garden has been buzzing with excitement as the children discover a whole new world of bugs and critters. ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿœ They have become architects, crafting cosy homes for their newfound friends amidst the greenery. ๐ŸŒฑ And speaking of green, our little eco-warriors have been busy caring for our planet by lending a hand in picking up litter from our surroundings. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

Of course, no week is complete without a sprinkle of birthday joy! ๐ŸŽˆ Our Montessori-style celebrations, where children joyfully walk around the sun, have been a highlight. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿš€

๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŽจ Adventures at the nursery this week were colourful! ๐ŸŒˆ

In our Artbuds session, we explored the world of contrasting colours, kicking off with a vibrant living colour wheel! Picture us all nestled in a rainbow circle of reds, yellows, greens, and blues, getting our creative juices flowing. ๐ŸŽจ This inspired a lively forage through the garden and woodland, channelling our inner Andy Goldsworthy as we crafted transient masterpieces with petals, leaves, and bark. ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒŸDespite the weather our garden expeditions are getting longer, filled with mini-beast detectives uncovering woodlice, spiders, and centipedes galore! ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ And did you know, our little ones are now experts in discerning male from female thanks to Miss Lauraโ€™s teachings? ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ™Œ It is always a joy to have parents share in our adventures and we have two visits this week, children love it!

๐ŸŒŸ Mark making, writing, reading, and intricate creations are all in full swing, while our art corner remains a hub of creativity, boosting hand strength and confidence with every cut and glue. ๐ŸŽจโœ‚๏ธ

๐ŸŒฑโœจ Another week of learning at Edzell Nursery! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ“š From embracing natural consequences to woodworking adventures and celebrating World Book Day, here is a glimpse into our week:

At Edzell, we believe in the power of "natural consequences", where children learn through firsthand experiences. From mopping spilt water to fixing a broken wooden toy truck, every mishap becomes a valuable learning opportunity, fostering independence and problem-solving skills. This week, we embarked on our Edzell Woodworking journey, igniting creativity and responsibility as our little ones repaired their cherished toy truck. ๐Ÿ› โ˜บ๏ธ

Our garden has been buzzing with activity! We have been busy preparing for the warmer Spring days ahead; churning compost, chitting potatoes, and keeping an eye on the daffodils and primrose we had planted previously.

In Artbuds, our exploration of mini beasts continued as we dived into the world of cocoons. Through imaginative creations and artistic expressions, our children spun tales of hidden creatures, inspired by the mysteries of the insect world. ๐Ÿœ๐ŸŽจ

Wrapping up the week we celebrated World Book Day! From beloved characters to cherished stories, some of our little humans arrive dressed as their favourite characters, and we all share our favourite books ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Our adventures this week!

๐Ÿฐ Wales Wonders: Our little humans have been on an enchanting journey through the realms of Wales, dragons, and daffodils!๐Ÿฒ๐ŸŒผ

โ„๏ธ Chill Out with Ice Play: We have been having a blast outdoors, embracing the Scottish winter weather and engaging in cool and icy adventures! From sensory play to discovering the magic of freezing temperatures.

Fine Motor Skills: This week we have dived into the world of fine motor skills. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, like those in the hands and fingers. These skills play a crucial role in your child's overall development, influencing various aspects of their life. From holding a pencil to zipping up a jacket, these skills are the building blocks for independence and success in everyday tasks.

In a Montessori classroom, fine motor skills activities are not just play. Maria Montessori believed that through purposeful, hands-on activities, children not only refine their motor skills but also lay the groundwork for independence and success in everyday tasks.

๐ŸŒˆ Key Benefits of Fine Motor Skills Development: ๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ’ก

1๏ธโƒฃ Academic Readiness: Mastering fine motor skills lays the groundwork for writing, drawing, and other academic activities. It enhances hand-eye coordination, enabling them to excel in school tasks.

2๏ธโƒฃ Self-Care Skills: From buttoning clothes to tying shoelaces, fine motor skills empower children to take care of themselves, fostering independence and confidence.

3๏ธโƒฃ Cognitive Development: The connection between hands and brain strengthens cognitive abilities, promoting problem-solving, spatial awareness, and overall brain development.

4๏ธโƒฃ Social Skills: Engaging in fine motor activities often involves interaction with others, enhancing social skills, teamwork, and communication.

Our Art Buds adventure took a cool twist this week as we moved things indoors to escape the wild winds! ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ We threw a challenge at our little humans โ€“ let's make art in a box! ๐Ÿ“ฆโœจ With all sorts of boxes and natural and recycled material, our little humans set out to create some awesome hidden worlds.

Tiny creatures made of clay came to life, and suddenly, the boxes became like magical windows into these secret worlds. Then, we added some light with a simple flashlight, and the shadows made everything even more exciting!

At the end of it all, our final gallery showcased a fabulous display of creativity and imagination. Each box had a story, and each little clay creature had a personality.

๐ŸŒˆโœจ Today, our little humans had a blast at our Art Buds session

First up, we delved into the world of colours and creativity with a hanging sculpture project. The children showcased their skills by creating colourful wool masterpieces. But before diving into the hands-on fun, we warmed up with some lively body movements inspired by colours - from jazzy yellow moves to spiky and wild red dances! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ

For our second project, they used pestles and mortars to grind charcoal, creating a rich, dark paint. The process not only required strength but also fine motor skills. The resulting black paint was then put to the test on a giant sheet of paper, and some even used it to dip-dye their hanging art! ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

After all the colour and magic brought to our nursery garden, what better way to wrap up the day than with the timeless tune, 'I Can Sing A Rainbow.' beautifully sung by the talented Julie.
